  1. I can handle Kitchener/Waterloo. (Including both universities)
  2. 5385 tracks. 39 gigs on my computer right now. I don't even want to fathom the amount that would be if I ripped all my CDs and shite.
  3. Methinks there's a bit of evidence pointing that way. (i.e. most of the weirdness that went on/is going on with Glassjaw) Makes me <3 him more, at anyrate.
  4. Pfft. Daryl Palumbo brings the awesomesauce, thick and chunky styles. Everyone should endorse him. Sure, he's egomaniacal... But really. C'mon. People.* *Currently the most coherent defense I can muster for anything.
  5. I endorse the Grinderman endorsement. Nick Cave's stuff is awesome in general, though. Murder Ballads is tops. Clutch is also fantastic. House of Blow - for fans of Daryl Palumbo.
  6. I'm digging this pretty hard.
  7. That was Crazytown (Yes. The same asshats who had that "Butterfly" tune a while back) covering "New Noise" by Refused. (And doing a predictably piss-poor job.)
  8. I'm not sure why I felt the need to post this here, but... This hurts my heart.
  9. Carina Round is totally a good choice.
  10. Good gravy. I heard Dredg did this, but never bothered to check it out. In other news Tomahawk has just announced (Well, like, a week ago they announced) that they're releasing a new album in June. Fucking awesome.
  11. This has surfaced on a few forums. I guess some advance copies have already gone out:
  12. I heard the bootleg and was just floored. It quickly became one of my favourites of Matt's songs. The inclusion of a band? Fucking amazing. Beyond excited for this album.
  13. Hurrah! So yeah, I may not have as extensive a music library as Shade does, but I can do my best if there are any requesties.
  14. aww shite. Can't download? or open? My winzip is being a bastard lately.
  15. really? because the melvins are terrible. Heh, at the risk of sticking my face into a smouldering brushfire, I might as well give it a shot: I can easily see how Melvins aren't someone's cup of tea. Even though they've released a ridiculous amount of albums, and have changed their style a bunch over the years, they're still ridiculously odd and dense, and sometimes, nearly unlistenable. And knowing all that, it's why I upped A Senile Animal. It's one of the few albums where they seem to be fairly accessible throughout. (The only other option I had in mind was the Crybaby, but even then, I don't think Buzz does much/any vocals on that one.) But yeah. To each their own. I will say this though: I love These Arms are Snakes with a passion.
  16. Brick Soundtrack by Nathan Johnson and the Cinematic Underground
  17. Oxeneers or the Lion Sleeps When Its Antelope Go Home by These Arms are Snakes Red-Eyed Soul by The World/Inferno Friendship Society
  18. My girlfriend and I were pretty constrained on time, so I was terrified we wouldn't make it in time for Zozobra. We walked in and they were already onstage, and Caleb Scofield was saying, "Thanks. We're Zozobra...." So I was thinking we'd missed most of their set. Anyrate, they went into Soon to Follow, which made me damned fucking happy. They went on to play The Blessing, Levitate, Kill & Crush and Caldera (Which was incredible) - I think they might've played Invisible Wolves too, but I can't completely recall. So I guess we missed, maybe, a song or two. But yeah, they did a great job. They definitely have a more raw live sound. Some of the vocal harmonies on the album seemed a bit too clean, so it was nice to hear a bit more roughshod vocalizing from the other guys in the band. Plus, the guitars were a bit higher in the mix. So yeah, they pretty much kicked ass.
  19. I was really concerned those cats weren't going to make it to Toronto on tour. So glad I got the chance to see 'em. All three bands put on an awesome set, though. The fact that they played Friends are Evil made me wobbly-kneed.
  20. Alright, here's a few. If anyone's digging on the vibes, lemme know and I'll see if I can't scratch your itch. Radio Swan is Down by Laura http://www.sendspace.com/file/m7elvr Music for Nurses by Oceansize (Alas, by no means their best work, but this was the only album I had ripped and handy by my computer. I still love this little EP. If people dig 'em, I'll up more) http://www.sendspace.com/file/wsm3sl Self-titled - Saul Williams[/url]
  21. Okay. So, I've been afraid to engage in this thread, mostly because I'm cut from a similar cloth as Shade: I start suggesting music, and really, really can't stop. Neglect groceries, food, schoolwork, all that. That Subtle stuff is amazing. Anyone digging on their new album, should look up the videos they have up on youtube... . Start off with a bit of hip hop: Hell's Winter by Cage. He's on the same label as Aesop Rock (if anyone snagged that album a page or two back.) Guy has a lot of random cats showing up on this album: Including: DJ Shadow, Jello Biafra formerly of the Dead Kennedys (recently of Jello Biafra & The Melvins) (Impersonating George Dubyuh (!)), and Daryl Palumbo (Of Head Automatica and Glassjaw) - among others, of course. I guess Cage's claim to fame was a very brief feud he had with Eminem a while back. http://www.sendspace.com/file/cn33wa I'll be back in a bit with some post-rock/post-metal stuff, some Saul Williams and whatever else I come across that might fit the bill here. (I'm assuming, Shade, that you've already snagged the new Locust, yeah?)
  22. She's just plain amazing. Thanks for posting that vid. I didn't know she had any kicking around. I love how she almost looks bored playing it, too.
  23. Beyond excited for this one. Not too concerned about the lack of Can't Get Shot. I mean, it was good, and IS good... But the recorded version isn't too shabby in quality, either. Maybe he's just going to let that one lie, & I'm fine with that. Glad to see "She's In It For the Money" on there, and "The Boy Come Home" Wonder if "When Hollywood Runs Out of Indians" will show up in another form somewhere down the line.
