I work in the motion picture industry in BC and most of the Canadian Indie films I see that hit the festival route are great. Always character driven. Unfortunalely these films never make it to mass distribution because they can't compete with the shit being pumped out by Hollywood studios. Canada should have a rule like they do for radio where a certain percentage of films shown have to be Canadian. It may help get some exposure for these films they otherwise wouldn't get.

A lot of times the demo's don't even make it to an album. I don't know why everyone gets so worried about it. He's stated on his site that he doens't even know what direction he's going in. What happened to the whole recording around the world idea?

When I first heard Truffle Pigs I really disliked it but I really enjoy the acoustic rework of it on In A Coma.

I think you guys take for granted the fact that he even communicates his views and has a blog in the first place. Most artists have a website controlled by their management or label and you don't hear anything until just before a new album drops and they need some hype. Matt on the other hand posts info about what he's recording, and when he's recording it. Fine Art Of Falling Apart. Flashdance is also great. It got radio play on CFOX and everyone loved it. I'm sure it was #1 on the top 5@5 where the songs were voted on.

I actaully taped the whole 6 hour CBC coverage because I had to work and wanted to know what Matt had to say. Unfortunately when I checked it this morning and saw Ed The Sock I realized I'd made a mistake and taped MuchMusic instead of CBC Newsworld. I guess I'm lucky I didn't have to scan through 6 hours of broadcast for his 5 second comment...
