I think that, regardless of what the writers/directors might think, this movie is going to be nothing but comedy.

"You make me want to be a better person. But I'm not a better person, I'm me." Overall, it was pretty good, but I tend to give things that mock contemporary American culture a bit of a wide berth. One thing that bugged me about it was that some of the main actors seemed to just be re-using characters that they'd played previously: Hugh Grant's character could have easily been a transplanted-to-America version of his character from Bridget Jones' Diary, and Mandy Moore's could have easily been the older sister of her character from Saved. A good laugh, overall, though.

I haven't laughed that hard at a movie in a long time. I'm reading a Chomsky book right now, and actually found some parallels in terms of their understanding of the media, corporations, and government.

Bought it, and have been really enjoying it. I think the style suits him really well - I was an IME fan, but I never thought that his vocal style really fit in with their music. This is much better for him. He's playing a bunch of free shows in Chapters right now, as well, which would be another good way of checking him out - he's going to be in Toronto at the World's Biggest Bookstore on Friday and Yorkdale on Saturday.

Finally had a chance to listen to Vicarious. Yes, it definitely has a "Lateralus" feel to it, but I don't really see how that's a bad thing, necessarily. -

You have to click on the x on the pop-up ad window - the link to the file's underneath it. (by where it says "megaupload links") -
Any Pearl Jam Fans?

Did anyone here check out Saturday Night Live this weekend? They did WWS and another new song - Severed Hand, which was rather amazing, I felt. -
'Best Of' Compilations

the only time I buy best-of albums is when they come with extras (second CDs with b-sides, or a DVD with videos on it, or something like that). Aside from that, I make my own from the CDs I already own. -
American Aparrel (the company that makes those t-shirts) always make thin tees. I like the feel of them. Plus, as an added bonus, they've certified sweatshop-free!

New Sam Roberts Album

Bridge to Nowhere and The Resistance make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. The rest of the songs are good as well, but I've only given it one listen tonight, so I can't really describe the rest of it in too much detail. -
I'm a big fan of Giant live. If my memory serves correctly, that was the song that he brought the Toronto Argonaut cheerleaders out for the first time I ever saw him live (although that was many years ago and my memory isn't all that great to begin with)

This is a pic I snapped of the setlist sat. night - not sure how readable it is, though.

It's a six-song EP she was selling at the show, containing songs from her new album, Thumbelina's One Night Stand. The case says the album will be out May 23r
