I found the episode to be a bit lacking. There wasn't anything noticably wrong with the episode, but when it's written and directed by Ron Moore there's a certain expectation that really wasnt't acheived on any level for me. Though it doesn't help matters much that I've never like Zarek or Gaeta much, so to have that as the focus of the episode, and to know that they'll keep the focus for another ep or two makes me bored. My only vested intrest in the story is the hope that they'll both end up dead. Though I'll settle for just Gaeta, with Zarek back in prison.

The soup commercial was legit, that's how it aired in Canada (though I didn't catch the reference at the time, cause that played that comercial at every break). As for Dee, it bugged me at first, cause it seemed more like they needed someone to kill themselves and Dualla fit the bill (she's basically been a wall prop for the past season). But the more I think about it, the more I can convince myself that it makes sense. It's not like it was a depressive "I can't go on living"/ call for help suicide. She's working a meaningless job, she's had bad luck with both Billy and Lee, yet she got through it cause she had faith in earth, but with that gone, she was just done. She's spent like 3 years in space (never got to live on New Caprica) all in the hope that they'd find earth, only to start back at the beginning, looking for a planet that they don't even know is out there. Plus she probably wouldn't have done much else anyway, may as well go out with a bang. Anyone watch the Live BSG Auction last weekend? It was oddly addictive and a lot of fun to see some really iconic stuff sell for some pretty high prices. The Cylon War Painting in Adama's Quarters went for $17,500. The lifesized Raptor went for $30,000 but didn't meet the reserve. Even styrofoam blocks, painted to look like books sold for $300. Yet one of Simon's damages suit jackets only went for $100. Crazy Stuff.

Listening to the podcast for that episode, unless Ron Moore was lying to fuck with us, The Gaeta song was basically written because they found out the actor could sing. The song itself seemed pretty arbitrary and it was just supposed to be about a lost love. As for Leoben freaking out about Kara's raptor, basically, all this time Leoben knew what Kara's special destiny was and has been helping her realize that through the course of the show, but seeing her dead body in the viper means that everything he thought he knew was wrong.

What's really interesting about that picture is that it's different from the one that came out a few months ago;

I've been getting kind of sick of Stargate DS9 lately. After watching the first few episodes of the season, I had given up on the show. Now that I hear it's been cancelled, I might actually continue watching til the end of the series. As for Stargate Voyager, I'm not thrilled about it, but I'll hold off judgement until I see more. At least with every cancelled SciFi show, they'll be replacing it with a show of equal value. (I'd give it a few weeks before they announce Caprica is being picked up)

I saw the movie with a couple of friends on opening day, which, in retrospect, may have been a mistake, because I'm more prone to laugh at the movie with friends. EDIT: SPOILER (Highlight to View) It started off good, but once Scully Google'd Stem Cell Research I was in hysterics for the rest of the movie... Fah...Totally not a spoiler

Battlestar Galactica Season 4
Zukiki replied to Crusader's topic in Rentals, Television, and Readables
You should be excited. Though don't let the mini-series scare you off, it's a bit more sci-fi heavy, and goes at a slower pace then the rest of the series (it's still good though). I've got a friend I'm trying to push the serie on but she hasn't got past the mini-series, and I don't think she's gonna give the show a chance, which is a shame. -
Battlestar Galactica Season 4
Zukiki replied to Crusader's topic in Rentals, Television, and Readables
For those that don't know, the TV movie will take place on Caprica over 50 years prior to the show (in and around the time cylons were first created). If the ratings are solid it will lead into it's own series. Also webisodes are planned for the mid-season gap, and up to three tv-movies could be filmed imediately after they wrap up the season which would be stand alone stories taken place thoughout the series (ala Razor). Overall I really liked the mid-season finale. The cliffhanger was done really well. It was big and I totally didn't see it coming, yet it wasn't suspensful urgent jepordy, which will make the 7-9 month wait more bareable. -

Battlestar Galactica Season 4
Zukiki replied to Crusader's topic in Rentals, Television, and Readables
This season has made me sad, it just doesn't feel like the same show anymore. I've only really enjoyed two episodes this year (the premier and ep 6). I don't really have any complaints about this last episode, but it's far from a favorite. It's gotten to the point where I won't really mind waiting till 2009 for the end...though I'm sure next weeks episode will be good enough to make me miss it again. My guess is that we won't find out who ths finale cylon is, but to mix things up, I'd say it's likely that people are gonna start figuring out who the final four are. -
like 8 or something...too many is all that matters. Should have wraped it up after 1.

Whoa, that's some nice vocals there. Record more, even if just for my own amusement. Oh, and here's my Acappella of Man From Harold Wood (sorry about the quality) ;) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7U4116QT

All the auctions were cancelled, and the account was suspended by eBay...No news yet, but just sounds like a technicallity, and a minor setback

Battlestar Galactica Season 4
Zukiki replied to Crusader's topic in Rentals, Television, and Readables
Clearly I'd disagree with that...but to each his own. It's deffinetly a show you have to watch from the beginning to really get into. I know if I had only watched a handful of episodes, I'd probably feel the same way (the show didn't truly click for me until the season 1 finale)...except for the "soap opera for sci-fi nerds", when really it's more of a soap opera that happend to take place on a space ship(a lot of true sci-fi nerds really hate this show because it's not cheesy enough)...and where this soap opera isn't really a soap opera, but a character diven show in disquise. -
