Well, we weren't there. Did somebody deliberately slam the mic in his face? I doubt it. If it was just people pushing forward as is so common when fans get excited during rocking numbers -- and the heavy parts of weapon are rocking, and the mic is very close to the edge of the stage then it just sounds like an accident to me. But alas, we weren't there. Conversely, throwing toy cars, bottles or anything like that at the stage and the performers is entirely another matter. Those are objectively idiots.... Just think, in the old days (late 70s) it was considered kosher -- by the fans, not the artists -- to spit at the performers ... as a sign of respect if you can believe it. Can you imagine someone spitting at Matthew Good and what his reaction would be? Ah ha, I just read Canuckmusicfan's post -- that's exactly what I suspected.

Thanks Crusader, my original post was self-insulting -- God knows it's not my intent to be the arbiter of NF$, I was only commenting that I could post no more than one word 40 times and get enough money to download the new song. Don't you agree that IDEALLY people should have to actually say something rather than nothing? If not, forget it. Oh, and October, now that I've posted more than seven times I'm getting back to you. I'm having a great day, fyi.

I propose that NF$ should be awarded for the quality of posts, not the quantity ... hence the meaningless posts rendered for no reason other than to get NF loot. Sounds like whoring to me.... Accordingly, if this post must be judged by its quality, I hereby award myself nothing. Have a good weekend everyone!

I'm American -- live in Chicago, raised in Detroit. In Detroit, we get Canadian radio, tv, etc., so we get a clue re cool Canadian artists. I'll never forget the charge I got one day driving around and hearing the then new song by 54-40, "Don't She-la". I drove right across the border to buy their then new great CD, Dear Dear. I know I'm dating myself, but what the hey? Anyway, yes Matt and particularly his management sincerely wants to get hooked up with an American indie label to put out the new record and hopefully tour for it. You are right, he is not well known here at all. Will probably do well in border states like New York, Michigan and the upper west coast, but beyond that he has no exposure here at all. Would be very interesting indeed.

Hmmm, not knowing how much you know already I'll just say the following. All members except for Rich are married. Pat is technically not married but has been with the same girlfriend for years, so "common law marriage." Pat is funny and brings a very fresh breath to the group dynamic, and I also think he's an excellent drummer. Christian was more quiet and reclusive, as he appears on stage. Rich has a great sense of humor as well, and is the biggest hockey fan in the group. Matt's wife, Jen, is mega-beautiful and equally nice. Takes the piss out of Matt, in an admittedly needed way, so says Matt. She was a huge MGB fan long before she met Matt -- they were set up by a mutual friend. They clearly love each other a lot. As you know from Matt's posts, etc., Matt is a sponge of information. He seeks and gathers so much information that it is hard to believe his mind does not overload. They hope to have children, other than their dogs, in the not too distant future (would like to cruise around Europe first). Matt will do anything for you if you're his friend, so I gather. There's a lot more, but just know that he cares so much about doing "good", to the best of his abilities and typically by his terms.

Was lucky enough to hang out with Matt, his wife, band and crew for a bit while they were in Toronto (specifically before, during and after the Sunday contest winners show at Mod Club). Suffice it to say he and everyone involved are as cool and thoughtful as they come.

Believe it or not, "Little Terror" is essentially about one of his puppies. Swear to God. It morphed into things larger than that, but according to his wife, it's about her dog -- not Pete, but the other one.

Dave is really into the production end of things now, though he was recently involved and played all over the last Holly McNarland CD (who you'll remember as the female voice appearing on the Loser Anthems EP), and he is also now filling in on guitar with the venerable 54-40. I too thought highly of Dave's guitar playing, which I thought brought a lot of melody to the table. However, Matt told me Dave was "terrible," as it would take him 50 takes to get any of his parts done while recording. I know that Christian is excellent, but never having seen Dave play live I guess I would never be able to compare apples to apples. I will say that Pat the drummer is frickin' fantastic. Now he does bring an awful lot to the table. He is a very melodic drummer, who provides a real kick to their live show. His Keith Moon-esque drumming in parts on the new album (for god's sakes is ex-pats ever a Who-sounding song in so many ways) is tremendous.

Still trying to figure out what the hell a "Buffalo Seven" is. Any ideas? That's funny, I thought it was a reference to how the Buffalo Sabres got screwed over in game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals a few years back against Dallas when Brett Hull clearly was in the crease when he kicked in a loose puck past Dominik Hasek. Just kidding. That terrorist cell explanation must certainly be accurate. -- Paul
