There are cooler bands out there like: Fantomas/Tomahawk/Melt-Banana/The Locust/An Albatross/Head Wound City MSI is lame to me, especially that Tom Sawyer cover. -
Best "top 40" Band?
shade replied to sodamntired's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
Technology has changed that, plus there are too many genres now within mainstream music, everyone likes different things. No 'One' band can have as huge an impact as the beatles did nowadays. -

Fergie is the definition of an ugly talentless crack whore who seems to still record music while a cock is lodged in her mouth.

Best Voices
shade replied to primetime_deliverance's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
I saw Tool Twice this year. I think he's been sick or something, but even the vocals on 10,000 Days (the album) don't stack up to say... the vocals on thirteenth step, though there is a 3 year difference. Just listen to Undertow, he has a crazy raw/awesome sound going. -
Who the fuck cares about celebrities? Shit topic.

Yamataka Eye from the Boredoms. Maynard (even though he's gone downhill with age, as expected) Thom Yorke Edit: And ya, Mike Patton is pretty good. -
Your Top Albums Of 2006 So Far?
shade replied to a topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
Yes. Keep up the good work, your style of comedy is original and refreshing. -
Ftritz Lang's Metropolis is fucking awesome.

You should take a look at some german expressionist films. That is where Burton gets his style from, he's not very original at all. Take a gander at this: http://sopranosfamily.tripod.com/caligari/ it's pretty cool. Edit: and ya, I agree...He is very overrated. And for shits and giggles I'd like to add Kubrick and Hitchcock to the list. These guys can't be appreciated enough.

Best British Albums Of 2006
shade replied to The Foot's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
also, to shade: making sweeping generalizations about an entire country in saying that they aren't putting out anything interesting lately is a laugh. try looking. the UK is releasing stuff just as great as it was a decade ago, or half a century ago. quality of music isn't affected by the time that it's in, despite popular opinion. i hate it when people say things like "the UK sucks this year" or "2006 was a slow year for music, eh?" shut up. go wank on someone else's forum. not here. Calm Down Johhny B Goode. I was just defending the thread maker, you guys were being jerks imo. Plus e-Drama is lame in my opinion Now lets all chill out...myself included. I agree with the Eraser actually. I find the best music comes out of Japan nowadays by the way. As for the wanking remark...nobody mentioned the mars volta...so why bring that word up? Edit: Also list this good british music you would compare with Older bands (besides radiohead, who we all know and love)...I'm interested -
Shoot me some tracks and I'll try it out. I'm open to whatever.

Best British Albums Of 2006
shade replied to The Foot's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
It's pretty fucking obvious he means "so far" so why not participate instead of trying to be mildly clever. That being said...the UK doesn't produce very interesting stuff nowadays. I'm going to say the Porcupine Tree DVD, because I like cheating. -
Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park!?
shade replied to rbx260's topic in Rentals, Television, and Readables
Family Guy blows. Simpsons in it's prime is unbeatable. -
Not that I like Matt Mays, but does music ALWAYS have to be complex for you for it to be good? No, I like a bunch of minimilist stuff. I like a lot of basic rock as well...but the genre has already been perfected and today's artist really have nothing new or better to offer to it. Complexity doesn't even have anything to do with it really. It's more experimentation...pushing boundaries and whatnot.

more like Matt Gays...amirite guyz?? guyz?

I've only seen one scene from this movie, which was brilliants. The soundtrack pwns as well. I should watch it.
-
Well, you can't say it's all the production's fault if the album sucks. It should be more about the music then how it's played anyways. I understand it's an important part. However, if an album sucks, it is because the music sucks.

Sam Mendes: He did American Beauty, which owns. Jarhead, which I haven't seen. Road to Perdition Mina Shum: She did Double Happiness, which is a Canadian film actually. Good Mise en scene/a lot of subtle techniques. Marc Forster: I'm saying this guy based on the masterpiece "Stay" alone.
