  1. Breakfast of Champions by: Kurt Vonnegut. Most brilliant book ever written.
  2. Tim Burton is a god amongst directors. I haven't seen the movie yet but i'm looking forward to it. Personally i've always read Roald Dahl's books as being quite dark, and i can't picture them portrayed otherwise. Except for the Gene Wilder Wonka. Is it taboo to call him crap? Because nobody seems willing to admit it. Like what the shit? Musical? Wilder was way too happy to be Wonka. Even at the end when he was telling Charlie that it was all a ruse, you could tell he was faking it. One negative point against Burton: He needs to stop casting Johnny Depp. They're quite similar in style and Depp's an incredibly versatile actor, but Christ! Ed Wood, Edward Scissorhands, The (upcoming) Corpse Bride, Sleepy Hollow, Willy Wonka, etc... ENOUGH DAMNIT! ENOUGH!
  3. They tried frying them with a giant magnifying glass, but after accidently destroying the southern United States they realized it had more practical uses.
  4. Now now, i'm not saying it's bad. I'm just saying i'm concerned. And the bootleg is a production from long ago, but not THAT long ago. It was purposely made to be bad and not to be released. They made it, i think, so they could maintain their hold on the Fantastic Four movie rights (as they werent ready to shoot a real life big budget film at the time.) It is so godawfully hilarious. The Invisible Girl's "disappearing" is a matter of panning away from her physical body, and then panning back and *poof* "whered she go?!?" It's brilliantly bad.
  5. So basically one more? I don't know about this film. I really don't know. On a related note, has anyone seen the bootleg Fantastic Four? (i.e. the version they never released and is so hilariously bad, that it trumps all other bad movies)
  6. I just watch Much for Going Coastal, The New Music, and The Wedge. I do every now and then however stop for a few minutes to watch something of another program. What the hell is up with their new vj, Matt Buble(?)? I never really liked the vjs (except Bradford) but this guy is fucking horrible. Not only is he as dumb as a brick but he's also equally tactless, annoying, horribly unfunny and just an overall asshole. I don't even care a lot about Much Music, but i'm still waiting for the guy to let a sexist comment slip on tv so they can fire that shit for brains.
  7. Yeah, i just heard the full frontal part. Even without Ricci's nudity *drool* it still looks good. I'll have to remember to rent it. Also, when i first read the subject line i got really worried. I had flashbacks of those two british cartoon pop singers, and then started getting worried that they had somehow achieved national domination in England.
  8. I've been downloading all the episodes, except for the first season which i watched on DVD. Yaaar i be a pirate and i sail the p2p's. Seeing as how the thread might as well stay alive: Any favorite characters? I had a long discussion on this with my pals, and i couldn't come to a final decision but Todd, Ted and JD are the top 3 in no particular order.
  9. Do you mean personal value wise? Or sell-it-on-ebay wise?
  10. Conan's not that great. Better than Letterman or Leno, but he relies on making stupid faces too much. He's better than that. Can i nominate Jon Stewart? That man is a genius. Or maybe i should say his writers are geniuses.
  11. You're right. He's totally a vanilla kind of guy. I think strawberries would be a nice touch too.
  12. No no. What i mean is that his political commentary in Avalanche is hardly commentary, and it's very bland, cliche and relativly annoying. It wasn't that it was too political. It was that it sucked at being political. I thought the songs on WLRRR had far more substance lyrically.
  13. What if everything you know about uncited bullshit is wrong?
  14. I reccomend taking unhealthy doses of caffeine packed beverages and locking yourself with the book in a completly empty room
  15. Ah i didn't know that, otherwise i would've refrained. Well....i'll show myself out.
  16. Well i don't mean to be TOO harsh, because he does have excellent cinematography and an interesting directorial style. But he screws it up with his scripts. I find that the commercials for his films contain all of the up-front quirky jokes. But everything else in the movie is completly devoid of emotion. EVERYTHING'S DEADPAN! And deadpan just doesn't work for two hours straight. It tries to make up for this by being quirky. But it fails at this task as well. Instead it just seems forced and annoying.
  17. I just cant stand any film by Wes Anderson. Everytime he releases a new movie, i try and give him another chance. And everytime i do i'm dissapointed as hell. His movies are way too dry and don't go ANYWHERE. Wes Anderson sucks shit. And anyone that says his movies are intelligent can go sit in a corner with a dunce cap on their head.
  18. I've just recently become addicted to this show, and have transferred it onto my closest friends as well. I was just wondering if there were any other fans out there.
  19. If i hadn't read the plot synopsis before the advertisements started up, then i would've been so confused. I haven't seen it yet however. Looks decent enough.
  20. Billy Talent is crap. Their music and their lyrics suck. They do have excellent live performances though (energy wise) and they seem like nice enough fellas.
  21. I f'in hated Weezer's Pinkerton album the first time i heard it. But then i played it a second time and my opinion changed completly and it remains to date one of my favorite albums. I think anything by Beck also takes some getting used to. The Walkmen - Bows & Arrows album had to grow on me a bit too. And on the discussion of Avalanche i think it's important for me to get this out in the open, so we can all move past it: I despise that record. I like 4 songs on that album in total. When the cd came out i was so pumped (especially after hearing Weapon and seeing the video) but once i popped it in, i was just so dissapointed. I didn't like matt encorporating politics into his songs. Not because i dislike it when artists do that, but because his songs were so cliched and weakened by it. I thought WLRRR was an enormous improvement in quality. Anyway i'm glad we could talk about this. I got a lot off stuff off my chest today. Same time tomorrow? Swell
  22. I like the colour green. I dont know how i feel about a band stealing its thunder though.
  23. I used to take a lovely course in highschool called communications technology. Our course was taught by a wonderful but cynical old man whose last name contained the word Cock. This man singlehandedly crushed my half-dream of being an audio technician when he stated that nobody under 30 is in that field, because the jobs within are supposedly monotonous with shitty pay and no advancement. I know it's not the good news you were looking for but this is the only knowledge i can offer. EDIT: Just realized you're from Austrailia. It may be an entirely different scene there, so dont lose all hope.
  24. I got the tortilla one. But the others are just fucked up.
