  1. Im not sure about Pony Boy but Matt did say that he chose not to include All Together on the album, and that he felt I the throw away captured what he was looking for much better. As for today, I dont think Matt answers to much of anyone, and if he was told how to do something, he'd more than likely scrap the project if he couldnt do it his way. I'd like to see a "matt's favourites" collections, a mix of all Matt favourite songs or ones he is most proud or writing over the years.
  2. Thats what Im wondering too. Im not sure if he only played it live that once or what. Either way, it was a great surprise to hear it.
  3. or hit up the Silmarillion by Tolkien. Its pretty interesting too and gives alot of insight into Middle Earth. Its a long read though.
  4. mgtabarchive.com is a great site. If there are any tabs that aren't clear there, I'd be happy to write some clearer ones out and post them. I've got some on mgtabarchive and should probably get some others in on the ones that don't make much sense or just plain suck. If youre looking for jph tabs, which one do you want. Theres not much guitar in seriously serious, and I can post agoraphobe for you tomorrow maybe.
  5. People who go not based on the music is what I meant by not real fans, I shouldve cleared that up. The real fans are the cynical ones who get pissed at those fucking stuff up and start fights while trying to listen to the songs.
  6. That blog is posted all over campus residences right now too in order to get the message across.
  7. WLRRR actually kept me up driving from White Rock to Shuswap after pulling an all-nighter, we just about drove off the road twice. Great CD to try and keep you awake, though we had to skip Empty Road and Blue Skies for obvious reasons.
  8. From what I've seen, Matt's fans are pretty cynical, they've always been, as he was, so when they get a few too many beers in them, that stuff is bound to happen. Matt is also really opinionated in public and used to come off as an asshole, which leads to alot of people wanting to "rebel" and go to his shows, whether his music is upbeat enough or not for such moshpits to happen.
  9. I know they didnt tour for AoB at all, they broke up around November, I was at the signing for AoB at A&B Sound in Langley a few weeks before they split. Matt got his new lineup together and played a few shows with them, that is where he opened with HOSAM. The show was with Christian Thor Valdsen on guitar, so I know it wasn't BM era, that would be a pretty far fetched story if it was though you're right. I think I mentioned originally that it was after MGB though.
  10. Matt actually took the lyrics to Villain of the Year and added them onto the live performance of Symbolystic White Walls a few times ago I believe. Not 100% that it was Villain of the Year, just rumours on Massacre in Disguise I think. But it was a great live track if anyone has this, I'd love to hear it again.
  11. Off the top of my head I'd agree with Fearless. That ones pretty good. Apparently song for the girl is supposed to be romantic. I can see it a bit, but in a kid way. Also "Life beyond the Minimum Safe Distance" is a romantic song between Matt and his once stalker.
  12. so do we all not all of us.
  13. Thats probably a pretty good reason. I think "All Together" and "Ponyboy" are the only 2 bsides from the AoB sessions. Comfortable Criminals was the only one from Avalanche, unless there's a copy of Villain of the Year floating around out there. All I can remember is that the drum track from "a long way down" was originally the drum track to "villain of the year" I believe. So if there are any other bsides out there, I'd be more than happy to trade any pre-MGB stuff I have for them.
  14. it was a leg injury sustained at a live show. what shitty timing, i'm so curious as to what direction the video would've taken. Yea thats what I heard too, I but I can't remember where anymore. Maybe on his site when he actually had news updates? Ever since "It's been awhile since I was your man" bombing on Much and Muchmore, I wonder if matt's still into making music videos. He seems a little angered that it got such bad reviews as a release.
  15. Apparently you've never been Uvic. They're way worse. I think UBC parties are tame (except some frat ones here and there) compared to Uvic. Anyways, Im pretty sure they did not throw it cause they didn't like Matt, more of "hey lets see how far I can throw this wrench on stage and fuck shit up!" which is pretty dumb. As for shoes, people lose them in the moshpits, and the generally get thrown to the front to collect, some people see the shoes and decide the stage is a better place to throw them. Band members being on the stage, seem to get the short end of the stick there.
  16. Yea its Ron Howard, which means we can surely see a Cameo of Clint Howard in the movie.
  17. wait i might be wrong about the HOSAM. unless it was the 19th of April 2003, then I am right otherwise I apologize for that one. nah Im pretty sure it was before 2003, I'm not sure if he had even released Avalanche when he opened with that. I think Dave Genn had just left along with Ian, and Matt had just gotten Christian and Pat in the new lineup and did a few live shows. I think Weapon might have been released, though I'm not sure. I could be way off on my dates now, I can't keep track of them all.
  18. I don't think he'd bring in any old b-sides if thats what you mean. If he didn't like them enough to put them on the album at the time, I don't think he'd like to put them on the live either, but thats just my opinion.
  19. I'm not sure you even have the show right, and I know he opened with HOSAM at that show I went to. Its not something I would screw up, I was sober at that one. This part I may not be right on though: I believe the show was even before Avalanche came out and he was playing new songs with his new band at the time, it wasn't part of a tour I don't think, just a few shows at the Vogue.
  20. ah yea, I shouldve noticed the "calgary" part of your name to realize you didnt see it in Vancouver.
  21. Entire Diorama CD by Silverchair. I miss them.
  22. Ever since their guitarist left before the release of Gravity I havent even listened to them, not that I was a fan before, but I liked his guitar work over the new guy's.
  23. Does anyone here have All Together from Aob? It's one of the few songs I can't get my hand on and can't find anywhere. If anyone could point me in the direction of where to find one, or upload it for me to yousendit or some other website that would be great. Thanks.
  24. is it playing anywhere in Van?
  25. I've gotten a handful of people in the states into MG, not much, though I've tried. Their taste in music generally speaking just blows. I'm not trying to stereoptype, Im sure there are a few down there with great taste.
