Got mine fixed... Don't follow the link to Discography, as that doesn't work. Come back out to Maple Music home page (www.maplemusic.com) and then go to M and scroll down to Matt. Then click on Music Then select the new album You will notice that the screen is different and it should work (maybe too well, I nearly got two, lol!). 10 days airmail for me, can't wait! Especially as I'll probably never get to a concert.

has anyone else (who didn't get a pre-sale) had difficulties with Maple Music to order? Keeps saying "not available with selected attributes". Not happy ;)
-
Jane, if you decide it's too much hassle, I will happily fly across the pond ;)

As a Matt Good fan, that album definitely matters. It's a great album in its own right, but also it's a big part of the 'matthew good experience' - then and now etc etc. I know nothing of the radio station, so my question to everyone is: if not for the surprising success of Hospital Music, would non-Matt fans be talking about his early stuff as "an album that matters"? Just curious. Also, how was the show? good?
-
It's good stuff. It's near impossible to get hold of that stuff properly, so to be able to hear it at all is great. Thanks for sharing the link

It's too difficult to pick one best performance because of the variation of songs/sounds/his voice. Some of his best tho... Strange Days (much better than you might initially think) Avalanche (obviously) Near Fantastica While We Were Hunting Rabbits Advertsing On Police Cars (just something about the way certain parts are sung. Similar argument goes for Near Fantastica actually. nothing amazing, just something about it)
-
Avalanche Both incredible tracks though. And I agree totally with whoever it was that said "think of the ending people" in regards to WWWHR. The end is stunning, but ever since i first heard it Avalanche has taken me on a trip like nothing else ever.

to me it's like he's saying we aitn real. we're apparitions, the machine which is ourselves, which in turn is an apparition, non-thinking, non-living, controls us and we just go along as we are never trying to change anything or make anything better. we answer to the corporation, the big cheese, "society" which is built of us, and run by bastards. Money talks, if ya don't have it, u can still be happy. I think the video helps a lot too. cool guy, good job, big money, gets fired, life is finished. gets a hooker, commits suicide. The corporation, the machine - controlled him and it killed him. Matt on the other hand is a janitor and has a great time of it, as too does the security guard. not superstar high class positons, but they're REAL. like was pointe dout there is SO much to break down in this song that it actually would take an essay. What i like about Matt songs though is that you can take ur own meaning, and you can be afected totally uniquely. there is no 1 single CORRECT interpretation, coz music is individual, to the creator and the listener. things to look at tho... rat in ur brain turns a wheel. rat in ur brain rules the world, from the comfort of you living room. stuck inside our own machine. what would you say if we lived on tv. tis a great tune.

matt said on his blog that Ryan weas damned near hit by a wrench..so i gues sit's true. fucking nutters

DVD would be brilliant!! would it be live stuff? didn't hesay though that he doesn;t know how possible it will be becuase at the end of the day money rules all?

I've never been lucky enough to see a MG or MGB gig, and living in Scotland i doubt that it will ever happen unless i visitin Canada and he's touring (which would rock in so many ways). Anyway... i've only ever heard a cover of Enjoy The Scilence (and it was a terrible recording). I'm just interested to know if he covers song often, which songs people have heard him covered and does he have a song that he just loves to cover, like Oasis singing My Generation?
-
i think Audio Of Being just beats out Avalanche. Avalanche is amazingly driven by strings etc, but there's just a haunting drive that comes with AOB that just can't be beaten. it's a brilliant brilliant album Top 3 albums: Audio Of Being Avalanche Beautiful Midnight
-
Still think this is one of, if not THE greatest album i have ever heard. love every track on the album, but favourite is Advertising On Police cars. just think it's incredible. other clear favs are Truffle Pigs Tripoli Under The Influence The Rat Who Would Be King Sort Of A Protest Song (abslutely brilliant)

Mike Garrigan - She's His Problem Now -
cheers, will get round to grabbing Morning Orbit or Little Songs as soon as i realistically can. Also will get some Moist stuff definately. like the couple of songs that I have heard, but with so much good music coming out at the minute it's hard to look around and buy older albums. I'm in a new music stage just now, specially with all the class bands like Bloc Party, Kaiser Chiefs, Bravery etc that have come out, along with great bands coming back with new albums that are really some of their best work. Lifehouse and Dishwalla to name 2. Especialy the Dishwalla album which is class from start to finish, and the Lifehouse one is as good almost as No Name Face

Marah - People Of The Underground

;) google is taking over the world!!!

the list is a joke.. i personally would seriosuly agree with MGB or MG album making a best ever list, but i'd say Avalanche or Audio Of Being are cleverer and better than Beautiful Midnight, which is only amazing, lol! There are some stupid inclusions in that list especialy high up. but ah well...

Best New British Bands
wazz replied to places38's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
Bloc Party - Silent Alarm. Best album of the year from anywhere, and incredible live act. saw them last month in Edinburgh, first night of nthe tour and they were just immense. Kaiser Chiefs - Employment. I'm biased coz i've been following the KAisers for a good while now and seeing them in Glasgow in 2 weeks, but this album is very very good. I was expecting it to be better than Bloc Party, but Bloc Party have simply set the bar for this years albums FAR too high for ppl to reach let alone surpass. Ocean Colour Scene - A Hyperactive Workout For The Flying Squad. A band that's somehow been missed off all lists of bands so far, which surprises me. probabvly the best british band in trecent years, and have been consistently good from album 1 and obviosuly took ove the british music scene with Mosely Sholes, one of the best albums anyone can own. This new album tho is classic Ocena Colour Scene and some of their best work in a while (even though it's all been good). Definately recommend picking up. And my little list of British bands worth checking out... 22-20's Thirteen Senses Dogs Die In Hot Cars Doces Athlete The Libertines Razorlight and random bands you should just listen to if you don't already... Marah Bright Eyes as i'm going further and further off topic anyway, i'll also throw in that the new albums from Lifehouse and Dishwalla are both very VERY good. later! -
what's the best David Usher album? I've almost bought Little Songs a couple of times (it's hard to get hold of here) and i think St Lawrence River is brilliant! also like al the other songs i've heard of his, but they spread across various albums, and it just aint possible right now to get them all ya know?
