This show never fails to impress. I loved this last episode. And about all the comments on the flashbacks, I think they're essential. They allow for character development no possible on the island. I highly doubt that they're running out of ideas. I mean, even with the flashbacks, most characters have at large mystery still unanswered in their past. Such as: why Jack's wife left, how Locke became paralyzed, who is the real Sawyer, what Kate did to become a fugitive, etc... They can almost do an entire season on the mysteries they created with the flashbacks and it would still be solid television. Personally I can't wait to see what this show yet has to offer.

Yeah, and his "Spacey" award acceptance speeches, man thats one funny guy. The show will never be the same, but I'll watch it nevertheless.

New Music

Spoon are friggen awesome, I've never actually met anyone who's heard of them. Also, Some Dresden Dolls, Kay's Choice (I recomend "I'm not an Addict") The Kinison Panic! At the Disco are fun, and AFK by Pinback is a great song as well. Yes! Pinback are amazing. -
This, to me, is exactly what prompted an album like WLRRR. Bands like Jet and the White Stripes were huge at the time this album was being made and I think Matt, while sitting in the studio, created some bullshit excuse like using old recording techniques, when really he wanted to boost his success by becoming once again a "radio friendly artist". Now I'm not doubting the fact that he did use that raw style of recording, I think he had alterior motives. He did throw in Blue Skies and a few others to let his fans know that he can still write like he used to but it looks like he just wanted to blast out some singles and go back into the limelight. I have no problem with all this, but its stupid to claim the fact that Put Out Your Lights doesn't sound like Matt doing his brand of Jet. Obviously this backfired and his success continued its downward slump (relative to his previous work), so now it looks like he's got the idea for this new album that he'll be more obscure, such as, a band like Wolf Parade or Broken Social Scene or even the now popular Arcade Fire. Obviously he'll put his own spin on the music, stamp it with his own brand but I highly doubt he'll come up with anything revolutionary. Yeah, and with the thread topic, I'm an MGB fan I feel Matt was better when he had an actual lead guitarist on board, his riffs now are pretty simplistic but there are some new songs that rival the older ones. I'm sure I'll still purchase his new album.

Carmalina is one of my favorite videos of all time. The video and the song work together so well. It is indeed impressive.

Why? (8 characters) Feels like he was trying too hard to sound more convoluted like, say, a band like Radiohead, but failed and pulled out a song that was more half-assed than anything else. I don't know its just my opinion but I don't think "Avalanche" comes even close to deserving the title of "Matt's Masterpiece".

Avalanche is far less impressive than what everyone goes on about.

Heaviest Band Ever?
mrjones replied to Dan #2's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
Yeah true I was listening to "Siberian Kiss" at the time, and while that song's pretty crazy most of their stuff is not. But they are an amazing band so I figured I could throw the name out there. -
The Age Of Electric
mrjones replied to Matt's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
Well it's sold in stores in Canada, but if you're in another country than I don't know... I was thinking more along the lines of downloading the album or at least one song, get a feel for his solo sound. But I checked a few cd shops here in BC and I didn't find anything. Guess I'm not looking hard enough. -
The Age Of Electric

Oh yes, I remember my introduction to Age of Electric from good old Big Shiny Tunes 2. Oh the good old days... I really liked Todd's work on Jumbo Jet Headache. Is there any way to get ahold of his solo material? -
Coheed And Cambria

Yeah, this CD really grew on me. None of the songs are as strong as "Time Consumer" or "The Crowing" but there are definately some here that stand up to previous albums. Plus the lyrics are pretty intriguing. "So cry on bitch why aren't you laughing now?" -

Glassjaw has some great sounding heavy music. The key word here being "music", thier stuff is really good but by no means the heaviest band ever. -
