Seeing it from the side of the Japanese was really enthralling to me.

I went to see the Departed, but got an emergency call and left 15 mins in...it looks good...will see it this weekend. But c'mon, let's be real...Scorsese is Scorsese, and no one else is.

I've seen 3 out of the 5 nominees. I think The Departed deserves to win.

if the departed wasn't just a remake of an asian film, I'd vote for it. Actually, a remake of 3 asian films. look for Infernal Affairs

I'm a big fan of Alejandro.... that guy who directed Babel (though i'm yet to see Babel), i'm all for clint eastwood, I really loved the departed.... but let's face it

 

LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE is the best picture of the year. Hands down.

It's so un-Oscar-like though, that it would be a huge surprise if it would win. But at the oscars, there are rarely any surprises so I don't really think that's going to happen.

I hope Abigail Breslin wins Best Supporting Actress for Little Miss Sunshine, I think I heard that she'd be the youngest ever.

 

I'd like to see Art Direction go the way of Pan's Labyrinth, kind of a shoe-in.

 

Children of Men for Cinematography, Writing (Adaptation), and Editing.

 

I would like to have seen Clint Mansell's work on The Fountain up for best score, but he's perpetually underappreciated.

 

My fingers are crossed that everyone involved with Pirates of the Caribbean goes home empty-handed, but I won't hold my breath.

Hah, I totally agree with you on the Pirates thing. That movie was way too long and extremely boring.

Children of Men should definately win for cinematography. The camera work was brilliant, especially during the climax of the film.

Agreed--the long, continuous shot there near the end (I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen) is absolutely spectacular.

I like how they forced them to hurry up with their speeches, although this year was the worst for speeches. do you think that's a coincidence? or were they just boring speeches
