Its a lot different from Dispatch.

Chad, the lead singer/songwriter is from Dispatch, but State Radio very, very different.

it's a lot better than dispatch. i liked rash of robberies and omar bay the most.

So I'm re-listening to Trees Outside the Academy, and it's not as free form as Sonic Youth stuff or Psychic Hearts. If you like more traditional songs, go for Trees. If you like riffing and experimental stuff go for Psychic Hearts.

 

And yay for listening to Joni Mitchell! Good to hear.

Yeah, the only Dispatch that I like are the songs written by Chad (who formed State Radio...) Elias, the General, Open Up, Out Loud, Born Normal, etc.

So far, Sudan is my favorite...

the joni mitchell wouldn't unarchive for me. kept getting an error. i listened to fiddle and the drum. i like the song. i already knew that. not sure i'm crazy about her voice, though.

i'm redownloading it. i deleted the download i had, but maybe my computer didn't like uncompressing that while i was ripping cds.

 

edit: i think that's what it was, cuz it unrarred just fine this time. silly kubuntu.

Trees Outside The Academy is amazing. I have all the Sonic Youth stuff but never knew Thurston Moore had solo stuff.

It sounds a lot like stuff from Murray Street and their latest CD... whih isn't a bad thing in my opinion.

 

A big thanks to whoever uploaded this. I'm gonna go out and buy it this weekend.

It's cool. I used to be the same way with vocals.

 

The only thing that is weird, though... I normally can't stand female vocals in general and I love Joni. But whatever, I'm glad you gave it a try!

Thruston Moore's Trees Outside The Academy is alright but I much prefer Sonic Youth.

 

Joni Mitchell, I didn't listen to the entire album but she doesn't really speak to me.

I must admit I'm not quite sure what all the fuss is over Wintersleep.

 

Anyone want to try and explain? I just don't get it.

i don't get it either. i think they blow (except for orca).

I'm the same way, and Joni is definately and exception for me. Others that I can't get enough of are Sarah Harmer and Leslie Feist.
