Maynard James Keenan, Trent Reznor

Both of them make me feel things through their singing that I can't even put into words

Matt Good

Kinda like MJK and TR effect wise, but also a lot more mellow

honourable mention

Chino Moreno (Deftones), Serj Tankian, Daron Malakian (SOAD), Rob Zombie, Christopher Hall (Stabbing Westward), Corey Taylor (Slipknot/Stone Sour), Jake Snider (Minus The Bear), Gareth Jones (People In Planes)

Edit: "Beth Gibbons of Portishead" INDEED!

VANESSA CARLTON

Now if it hadn't of said 'rock' above, she would've been my first.

has anyone heard of Justin Rutledge? he has a great voice, he opened last night for Jim Cuddy in banff. Cuddy if you remember i said earlier has thebest voice ever, but Rutledge is close

I think Matt has the best voice in music, and I'm trying to be as unbiased as possible.

Rob Thomas was pretty good back in the day.

David Usher has a very unique voice.

I've always had a soft spot for Holly McNarland, though I'mn to sure if she's "list worthy."

Jenny Lewis.

i'm kinda surprised that trent reznor has been mentioned so many times.

me too. i love nine inch nails to death. him and matthew good are my two favorite songwriters, but i wouldn't say he's an awesome singer. puts his heart into it for sure, but his voice isn't his best quality.

MG

Jeff Tweedy

Conrad Keely (and you will know us by the trail of dead)

Gavin Hayes (Dredg)

I'm pretty much a sucker for most female vocalists for some reason, but I really enjoy Melissa McClelland, KT Tunstall and Ash from New Years Day.

matthew and hawksley are probably two of the best "technical" singers out there... not just that, of course, but seeing either of them live is pretty astonishing. they've got the chops.

maynard too, as has been mentioned.

i'm kind of shocked no one has mentioned bjork.

and although he may not have a fantastic range, mark lanegan always gives me the chills.

yeah, that was my point. i love nine inch nails. they're great live. even the songs that are pretty dated still rule, but i don't think i've ever heard anyone say 'DAYUM! THAT TRENT REZNOR HAS A CRAZY AMAZING VOICE!!' because he doesn't. it works well for what they do, but when i think of great singers i will never think trent reznor.

Well, he doesn't have an all around amazing voice, but what he sings fits his voice and that makes it amazing!

1)Matthew Good is my number one fave singer/has the most spectacular voice ever!!!! I pretty much get chills up my spine everythime I listen to his Acoustic Music.

2)Raine Miada is pretty good in concert....pretty much always on key...good performer and he was really nice to me when I met him!

3)Anthony Kiedis is amazing live!!
