Country Vs. Rap/hip-hop

I'd have to say hip hop because Gorillaz borderline it, and I love Gorillaz.

The Gorillaz HARDLY defing hip hop! though they are great. i picked Country for the simple reason that I can name a lot more country song/artists I like than rap ones

Country, although simply for Johnny Cash. Both genres (in my opinion), like any genre, have brilliance and both have crap. It's a matter of looking hard enough if you're so inclined.

this was started because a friend gets mad at me for listening to hip-hop on occassion but she goes to country dances and stuff. which is definately worse.

Very true. Both do have brilliance, although, it can be hard to find. With all the utter crap that is stockpiled these days, it can make it disheartening and overwhelming to make such a search to find the good, but it is definitely there. I'd have to go with hip-hop though. If you're concerned about the drugs/bitches/money thing on hip-hop, I suggest you listen to Lupe Fiasco. Also, if you want a truly genius song, listen to Nas' 'One Mic'. It does have a really good messege, in my opinion.
