Matthew Good. Rock Or Ballads?

What stlye of Matthew Good music do you like more?

 

There's the hard rocking tunes like Everything is Automatic and In Love With a Bad Idea

 

There's slow stuff like Sort of a Protest Song and Fated.

 

There is definately a LOT of room for ambiguity (is Tripoli rocking or slow?), but just try your best.

 

So where do you stand?

this is tough because it pretty much depends on my mood, is what i like better but slower songs tend to be my fav like avalanche, the ocean and etc. so i went for that.

Definetly a tough choice, but i'll go with the slower songs, wwwhr, avalanche, aopc, MoA

I dunno if I'd differentiate between slow and hard songs..

 

Because, something like everything is automatic can be considered as much a ballad as fated.

 

I'd say that he has melodic songs and raw songs. Raw being most of his pre MGB music, and WLR&RR (poor man's grey), and melodic being most of his material. apparitions, avalanche, etc

 

 

I love those melodies.

This is a tough one. One of the reasons I love his music because it's a mixture of a lot of different things and moods. I like bands that have hard rocking songs but also slower and softer songs that are just as good.

 

But I'll have to go with his rocking tunes as my favorite.

definitely the slower stuff... but you do need a good rock track now and then to change things up

I put other because I was trying to pick all my favorite songs and then decide if they were hard or soft and I came out about even.

Couldn't even begin to choose. Certainly depends on my mood but I could easily listen to a rock and then a softer one right afterward.

Tripoli vs Tripoli (acoustic) Which one is better? That's a hard decision.

 

That goes with a lot of his songs. Sometimes loud rocking tunes like Fall of Man and Oh be Joyful are appropriate for the situation...Sometimes songs like The Ocean, The Bright End of Nowhere, Annabelle, Dusk, and the live slow version of Symbolistic White Walls work good. But songs inbetween, like Black Helicopter just fit into any situation.

I like to hear a good mix but when it comes down to it, Matts slower are just unbeatable.

It definitely depends on my mood but for the most part I love the slower stuff and can listen to it at pretty much any time. If I want to get pumped up for something then I would listen to a song such as Oh Be Joyful! As for the slower stuff I have way too many faves. With regards to the acoustic songs he released on his greatest hits cd

I tend to like the Ballads more, since they fit my mood. Esp songs like Advertising on Police Cars, I, the throw away, and other songs like that. I also really enjoy the mid-tempo songs as well, Truffle Pigs, and stuff like that.

I prefer the slower stuff. Most of his rockier songs from the ninties arn't as good as his slower ones.

Definitely anything from Loser Anthems untill Avalanche is my favourite. I love Avalache. Its all slow...

i like it all, but i think of my favorite songs, and they're all the slower ones, so that's why i picked it. Avalanche, Fated. . . masterful, perfect. . . slow.

I've always felt like Rabbits was superior to Avalanche.

 

Of course, I also think that SOAPS is miles ahead of both of them, so maybe I'm just crazy.

At the risk of sounding like a complete and utter nerd... I really don't care one way or the other. So long as it's Mr. Good at the helm, I tend to enjoy it.

matthew goods stuff is amazing no matter what it is but his slower songs seem to be a tad bit better, guess it depends on teh mood

I enjoy all of Matt's music, but I think the slower songs show off his poetic lyrics, strong voice and incredible melodies better than the faster tempo, heavier instrument based songs.

I really enjoy some of the songs that were re - recorded as slow, acoustic versions on in a coma, like: hello time bomb, generation X - wing and Advertising on Police Cars... it gives a new presepective on the song and shows how talented matt is...
