Any other big fans of this cult classic out there. I especially like the giant evil-looking bunny Frank and his interactions with Donnie (Jake Gyllenhaal) about the end of the world.

I used to be obsessed with Donnie Darko in my teen years. I would literally watch the movie nearly every day.

 

But then one day it stopped having the meaning that i used to have for me.

That film is genius. Fucking genius. That was one amazing script, and great acting as well. I'm just anxious to see what Richard Kelly will do with his next film, Southland Tales.

I think Donnie Darko is a good flick, but I prefer the "theatrical" version over the "director's cut." The director's cut just made the movie more palatable to those who might not be willing to watch it more than once.

I think I saw both versions but I'm not sure. It's a good movie but I don't really get how it became a cult movie.

The part where the bunny guy says "What were you doing in the middle of the road?" after he runs over the girl was so funny. Hell, I'd shoot the idiot...Oh, I've run someone over with my flashy sports car! It's their fault!

its got some good tracks from Tears For Fears and this random guy does an acoustic cover of "mad world" that really does it justice.

Yeah, Gary Jules' version is so much better than the original.

This was one of the best mind fuks of all time. Wicked in every sense, really reminded me of Lynch's work. As for which version I prefer, haven't really figured that one out. Mad World is an amazing song.

I saw the original version a while back, and it's good, but not cult-worthy to me.

 

I have the director's cut on rent right now, so stay tuned and I'll let you know which one I prefer.

I prefer the theatrical version simply because it fucked with my mind more. Less questions were answered and had me thinking up my own theories.
