Covers Matt Did

Recommended Posts

I've been thinking about it and since I haven't been to any of his shows and I'm not really into bootlegs, I have no idea which covers Matt performs on his shows. So I thought it would be cool if we'd make a list of them together.

The ones I know of are:

1999 (Prince)

Can't Explain (The Who)

Enjoy The Silence (Depeche Mode)

Isolation (Who sang the original?)

The three first are, to my knowledge, the only ones...the fourth is not Matthew Good

1999 was done for CFox in...1999 with a bunch of other artists namely Bif Naked, Todd Kerns and Econoline Crush

Can't Explain was done during the Avalanche tour in 2003

As for Isolation, that song has been branded as the Matthew Good Band since 1999 but it's not them.

he did a riff from Rock You Like A Hurricane with Load Me Up.

there was a Bob Dylan song too.

Seems to me that there are one or two more.

There's a recording of Matt doing Dylan's "you ain't going nowhere", but it's not so much a cover, as it is him singing part of the song, then asking people if they recognize it.

that interlude makes that recording stands as the best live song i've ever heard.... i love the part where the guy in the crowd says "now this is fucking rock"

Somewhere on my computer, I have a short clip of Matt covering Uncle Fucker from the South Park movie.

He only does 30 seconds of it, and it's pretty bad quality, though.

So Matt doesn't like doing covers, ah? It seems that even if he does them, it's never the complete song. Only Enjoy The Silence and he even released it, man, he must really like that song. Weird.

It really does sound like Matt though. Are you sure it's not him on Isolation?

I don't think it sounds like him at all.

Also, None of the male voices in 1999 sound anything like Matt (at least to me)...
