So a week or 2 ago (I don't remember) I picked the new Coheed and Cambria cd. HMV had it on special 2 'specially marked' cd's on sale for $25. So I grabbed Boys Night Out - Trainwreck. I'd only heard one song by them before, but the whole cd is fucking incredible. I listened to it more than I listened to Coheed. However the cd is even better if you listen to it in order, I highly reccomend you guys/gals give it a listen.

Oh, and the new Coheed cd is good too, different than there last one, took a few listens to really get into it.

I just heard this one recently, actually...and he's right, it's excellent. Very dark...probably depressing, but I'd be lying if I said I could tell the difference any more.

Songs are good on their own, but listening to it in order, as Spritzup said...fantastic. Tells a story of madness you might say.

My friend loves this band. And he's emo. He listens to very little outside of emo.

I don't trust these guys.

Oh goddamnit not his 'OMGZ THAT'S EMO' crap again. If you like it listen, if not, don't. It's that simple. Doesn't matter. But this whole "Ooooh I can't listen to that, it's Emo" crap is starting to piss me off.

/end rant

To not listen to something because it may fall into a certain category of music is just retarded. And can anybody define 'emo' anyway? What is it, 'emotional rock'? I mean c'mon, anything can fall into that category.

This is their concept album correct? Urgh, some people think anything that's concept is good (see: Coheed And Cambria) the stuff on that albumn pales in comparison to their old work, and I'm not all that impressed by that either. They're good live though.

I love this CD more than they're other one(s) because in order, its basically telling a story. And its a great concept. And the music on it is good too.

I don't recall ever saying anything close to "OMGZ EMO" outside of this thread. In fact i don't even recall stating the word "emo" in this forum. So i dont know where you get this again bullshit from.

Did i say that "i can't listen to it because its emo"? Because you'll have to reference me back to that point if i did. I expressed my skepticism. Nothing more. Nothing less.

BNO actually isnt emo.

Its punk.

Pop-Punk. Or what have you. I guess it would be.

But "emo" can be anything.

Take a country song lyrics.

Read them as if it was a song by MCR.

Country music is the real "emo".

Right, I generally don't over analyze the music I listent too. I listen to what I like, the fact that it's a 'concept' album is cool, but doesn't really sway my decision to like/dislike it or to buy it/not buy it.

You can settle down any time now. That was directed at recent trends in widespread musical opinion in general. Not at you specifically. I've seen a hundred other people post things along the same lines, and usually more extreme. I did not directly quote you. It was an attempt to preemptively defuse the wash of posts which typically follow one such as yours, citing everything the posters don't like as 'emo crap' and the like.

I have no problem with you or what you posted, Static. I have a problem with the idiocy and narrow-mindedness that typically follows a thread such as this into an alley, abducts it, and later forces it face first into a shallow grave about a hundred yards off the highway in the dead of night.

So sorry you took offence, but it was not my intention. Let's avoid making a personal vendetta out of this.

EDIT: Two points:

1: I have no problem with people hating bands but citing 'they're emo' as their sole reason is wearing thin. You don't even need to give me a reason, I don't care. Just don't tell me it's because 'they're emo.'

2: I STILL say emo is not a genre.

The first half of that is a good post.

As for the second half, I'm getting in my car with a pipe wrench and a case of Jolt right now. See you in a few hours.

If you think i'm gonna fuck around with a guy who has a gun as his signature, then you're crazy. All is forgiven.

(please don't hurt my family)

Here, hell. I'll take offence to it.

I'm new. Nobody else will. Plus I dont like the stance on them being "emo" anyways, and the whole "emo not being a genre" thing.

No sweat static, It's too had to actually get a gun like that in this country.

Alright, Typhoid, we're on. We're now mortal enemies, and must do battle at the center of the earth at the next planetary alignment. Cool?

i heard a song by them about two years ago on a sampler. I can't remember anything about it, so i think it's safe to say that i wasn't impressed.

Someone should post a song, to entice me ;)
