I have the limited edition of in a coma, and i am wondering if anyone actually likes the acoustic version of north american for life that is found on the 'audio CD two'. I am just wondering what other people think of this song.

It was a little bit "emo". Not a bad version of the song but I kept thinking of emo kids wanting to die. I blame MySpace for that.

Anyway, I liked it mostly.

NAFL was originally a strictly live song i believe (like 4 minute mile.) I think it was also a very improv/spur of the moment song when it was first written. It was never going to be an amazing blow us out of the water song. But as it stands, the acoustic version slightly salvages it from a mediocre existance.

how is it emo?

the lyrics havent changed, just the sound.

Lyrics don't need to be emo to sound emo. The speed of the song is what made it emo.

Emo IS a sound. Done and done. But hahah....I don't know why he thinks its emo. Whatever.

Edit: Oh and...speed doesn't really have to do that much whether it is emo or not. Buuuut...I guess that's your opinion.

i thought it was one of the most interesting choices for the acoustic session.

vast improvement over the original.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts on it.

I actually enjoyed it the most on in a coma. It was my favourite reworking. The tempo is what did it for me. Its like HTB on in a coma, not exactly what you expected, but very very good.

i've only listened to it twice, but i don't really care for disc two, or anything past track 2 of disc 1, for that matter.

What?? The second CD is amazing...

I like the new NAFL and the old one. Old one kicks ass for karaoke!!

I'll have to go back and re-listen...but didn't the lyrics change from "for every 1 we spend 3" to "for every 1 we kill 3" ?

I heard this song live a while back and it was amazing! It's one of those songs that sounded great live and sounded a bit different on the record. I like the reworking of it and I found it interesting that it was chosen to be reworked.

What did you expect from a greatest hits collection? 3 disks worth of entirely new, exclusive songs?

no, but that's my point. It's not anything new, so why would i listen to a compilation instead of the original album?

Ummm, emo? You guys are all drunk. All of you.

I love the reworking, it was one of the most pleasant surprises. It's similar to when artists cover other artists; the covers sound better to me when they take a different approach to the original. In this case, Matt covered himself, but still took a different, interesting approach to it.

In closing, I like it.
