To fully answer the question, both songs were released simaltaniously to ease both markets, It's Been Awhile for the adult contemporary market, and In Love With A Bad Idea for Alt/New Rock market.

ah, i remember when i was in the mall and in love with a bad idea came on in wal mart, and i made all of my freinds stop and bask in it's glory. lol. well i'd do that for any matt good song that came on.

i was in chapters (rideau st., ottawa) and they started playing we're so heavy, then they played empty road, then alert status red... i wondered why so i went over to the desk of the music department (where they dj the music there) and sure enough there was a manager giving the employee there some shit for it.

 

i walked up to the manager and told him to fuck off and that it was a good album, and to keep playing it. if i wasn't carrying 300 bucks worth of books i'm sure i would've been kicked out. they stopped playing it, and turned on some gwen stefani. i was thrilled.

man i wish the radio here wasnt so horrible. they play pop music and then theres a classic rock station. barely ever is there anything worth listening to.
