Sigh... I have to admit I'm rather dissapointed with the idea of a greatest hits coming out. I wouldn't buy it, because I already have just about all the CD's (just need astronauts), and unless there was a serious easter egg inside, like a collection of rarities I didn't have, well, I'd have to take a pass. I'm generally not a fan of compilation albums.

I would by it simply to compleate my collection, however as an aside that does not attack matt personally wouldn't relasing a greatest hits album be a huge cash cow if it only uses previous recordings? Now to make somethign truly unique make the best of album live... Just a thought

Allright so heres a question, say Matt included 3 of his demos re-recorded on this ficticous greatest hits album? which ones would you pick?

id go with The Ocean, Euphony and Second Sun

It'll probably be like every other greatest hits album..

a compilation of all the singles with a couple of new tracks for the diehard fans. The singles of course would appeal to the people who liked MG's singles.. but maybe not enough to want to buy a full record.. but now that all the singles are on one album they could pick it up (provided theyre not on the whole "burning cds" bandwagon.) Think about how The Tea Party did with Tangents, that was pretty cool. They even updated some of the songs, with added guitars and such.. perhaps Matt would do the same.. i.e. how he talks about wanting to "fix" Carmelina and such.. then it'd be totally worthwhile for EVERYONE (..who enjoys masterful music of course)

A greatest hits, I probably wouldn't buy, as 'Greatest Hits' usually refers to just the singles. 'Best Of', on the other hand, might be worth purchasing, or giving to someone else who might not know much of the music.

Edit: I also like the idea of releasing a B-sides album called Greatest Hits.

Edited by no yu begin wher i end

I'd like to say that the only way I will pick this up is if there is new/unreleased material on it, but I know I will probably buy it anyway. I would hope that it had some good liner notes, with comments on each song or something.

A greatest hits with some unreleased stuff at the end would be awesome, similar to Van Halen, i wouldn't buy just a greastest hits though because i already have all of the albums.
