I remember from the special site off Avalanche a shorter version of NF that didn't have the intro if I remember correctly. Has anyone else heard it?

It was the radio-friendly edit. Nice edit, but doesn't hold a candle to the original or the acoustic. Clocks in at just over 4 min if I recall...

the one part i really like about the radio edit of NF is the middle part; cant fear fear, fears the mind killer - there is no rythem guitar there and i like the way it sounds

No. Nation of Cool was an old fansite, if I remember correctly. Matt recorded a different version of 'Near Fantastica' for download.

i have three versions... original (radio edit is just shortened original, far as i can tell...)

acoustic

and... the solo one. meaning, it has a crazy solo in it.

for the record, the 'radio edit' is the original version of the song. He went back and re-recorded it later which resulted in the longer version.

I don't think I've heard the radio edit, but I love the acoustic version. The solo version is also great to listen to at times, the tone of it certainly more haunting, which isn't really a bad thing here.

The short version of NF is the Radio Edit version.

The only song I remember off of the HOSAM site was Comfortable Criminals, which I couldn't even get to play on my computer.

 

EDIT: Got them both, just needed real player for comfortable criminals.
