i like grunge

it doesn't limit me at all, but i can see how it might

i just like it so that when people ask me what kind of music i like, i can say metal, classic rock, and matthew good.

I hate all the titles too! Keep it simple. Rock, Country, Rap, etc. None of all this Post-Grunge, Punk Revival, Speed Metal, etc... too many names! Nuts to them.

Even broad genres don't do anything for me. Any good music should fit into many of the broad categories.

I like the music that I like, period.

I don't like labels either... they are very confusing and sometimes it is very difficult to categorize a band with a label

Genres are useful as a way to explain/compare different types of music. 'Good Music' is not specific enough if you were to be trying to find music that is recognizably similar to other music. Its just when people limit themselves to genres, or exclude genres on principle, that it is bad.

When genres are used to classify or compare music, it is useful. Just as you wouldnt call every vehicle (pickup truck, bus, front-end loader, moped) a car. It doesnt say enough.

we have our own genre. prissy cock pop.

i quite like being lumped with bands like sum 41, and simple plan.
