Mg Summer Songs?

Recommended Posts

With nicer weather coming soon, I just wanted to see what Matt Good songs everyone regards as "summer songs".

The kind of song you'll turn up and listen to while driving around. Stuff like House of Smoke and Mirrors, although it's great, doesn't apply.

Born Losers seems like a summer song to me, partly because that's when I started listening to it.

Any thoughts? Bit of a stupid thread but whatever lol.

why can't House of Smoke and Mirrors not be a summer song? i definitley turn it up loud and play it while i'm driving, windows down.

Actually, all of Avalanche, to me, is great for summer listening...

I consider Avalanche a Spring album for me...Hospital Music came out in the Summer so I kinda associate those...

Not sure about the others.

I was driving around this afternoon and found myself cranking Put Out Your Lights and Alert Status Red.

I'm not really sure "Change of Season" is a particularly awesome blasting song... you know, unless you live in a retirement community in Florida "Those damn kids!"

The problem is the best blasting songs usually end up being the ones with the least depth.

You hit the nail on the head, but that's not to say that if a song's "blastable" it's lacking depth. Like here is no way just said, it really is to each their own with this thread. I started this thread to see what everyone thought, I'm still waiting for someone to say they love blasting acoustic stuff.

Ah yes, I meant comparatively. "Change of Season" and "Running from Home" are actually two of my favourite songs. But I find that they are only effective in complete dose. When I'm cruising down the street with my windows down and somebody hears "The gun, it makes you look nicer in a bad waaaaaaaa-" it not exactly going to have the effect of "Wow, that's an awesome tune". It might get a "What the fuck was that". Comparatively "Hello Time Bomb" which really lacks the same sort of challenging ideas as "Change of Season", is more likely to get a "That's a pretty good song" response.

It would seem that I am an approval seeker when I drive.
