Sigur Ros

Is anyone else here a fan of Sigur Ros?

 

They're a band out of iceland and make some really powerful and interesting music. It's definitely not for everyone, but I highly recommend at least checking it out.

Any band that releases mp3s are great. Not a big Sigur Ros fan but I've listened to Massive Attack, Badly Drawn Boy, and other bands in the same genre. Sigur Ros is pretty cool.

Well, I'm glad for this thread because a while back I saw a Sigur Ros (what does that mean anyway?) video where there are a bunch of kids wearing radiation suits and they're all running around in a sort of desolate wasteland. The song is beautiful but I can't for the life of me remember what it is called. Help anyone?

also, losely translated, the name means 'victory rose'

I just got their first two albums in the mail today: "Von" and "Von Brigdi (Recycle Bin)"

 

They were only released in Iceland but if you're willing to shell out some cash you can usually find them on Ebay. They're not as enjoyable as the most recent albums, but it's interesting to hear how they started out. Very dark and atmospheric.

I just finished listening to Untitled #1. I love that song, but what are the lyrics? Are they in a different language or can I just not understand them? Anybody know?

They don't actually sing words. If they did I'm sure it would be Icelandic, but they use vocals just for the sound, as if it was another instrument. And the singer plays his guitar with a cello bow. Cool.
