i think one of the best has to be The Royal Tenenbaums (Nick Drake, Elliot Smith, etc.) and there is great stuff on Eternal Sushine of a Spotless Mind (ELO, Beck, Jon Brion) and Good Will Hunting. recently Garden State came out and it features a good set of tunes.

Generally, I can't stand soundtracks. The exception is the Singles soundtrack! It's awesome! Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Mother Love Bone, Hendrix, Screaming Trees, Smashing Pumpkins, how can you go wrong!?!?
