MG and the Who

i was just wondering if anyone else has noticed how much the music on White Light is influenced by the Who.. i mean the album is just riddled with it.. most notably ex-pats..

He loves that band I think. He even opened for them ;). They're an awesome band and they've also monopolized the CSI themesongs.

Matt was recently criticized for "copying" one of the who's songs in Ex-Pats. I'm not too sure what song ex-pats resembles though.

 

I did read somewhere that Matt acknowledged the resemblence and said it was more of a tribute then anything.

i don't think he copied a song in particular - more like he was influenced by the who in general. you can hear similarities in the guitar parts. i can hear won't get fooled again in it as well.

in ex-pats the distorded guitar has a similar distortion and identical chord progression when compared to Won't Get Fooled Again... but after the first few bars the songs are nothing alike.

i don't care what it sounds like. its wonderful music and even if he covered the song, it would still be all matt.

i think it is refreshing to hear good music come back around through other artists.. the small musical nods add layers to album and help people remember good music from the past.

I can't really remember, i think i read this in an interview on the internet.

nearly every song resembles another, hardly anything is really original esp in rock music. If it's a good song, who cares that it's 'copying' parts of another anyway?
