My sister, when asked how she got pregnant with her firstborn.

"How the fuck should I know? What I want to know is what are you going to do about it?" My then 15 year old sister, to my parents.

I stand in amazement at this statement...

I was pretty shocked too...somehow my suggestion of strangulation didn't go over to well. The next comment was equally ridiculous...

To me she said: "If you had been around more, instead of off with your wife...maybe this wouldn't have happened." To preface this, when I left home at 18 for college(she and my brother took that shit personally, like I was abandoning them)I came home for a year, because my parents asked me to, but I moved out a year later...she took it very hard. So naturally, my lack of availability was going to be somehow part of the issue.

Gotta love my Dad, his response to her statement, was "Well, yeah you could have spent more time with your sister." He was just a little to eager to avoid the blame cannon.

That's nothing...My sister can be a shithead at times. The baby's father was murdered not too long after we found out she was preggers. I had pulled some strings to get him into the coastguard, provided he get his GED and be ready to take their entrance test. They just needed to go the seven blocks to the library to get the books he needed to prepare. At the time, I worked 75 miles away from home(150 mile roundtrip) I got a call at the office, asking me if I could get the books for him from the library???? I like how the fuck am I supposed to do that, number one, and number two...what's wrong with your damned legs?

Thus, they never got the books. So when he was murdered(six weeks after he would have been off to the USCG Academy, My sister blamed me for not doing more to help him...

Charles, you have an amazing attitude towards life, especially considering your background. I just want to point how impressive you are and let you know that you're inspiration to me.

Thanks Christine that means a lot. Life is hard at times, but it get's better. A lot of what I do now, is stand back and watch, when it comes to my sister. I throw ropes when I can, but I kind of backed away.

Beth, my sister is a victim...but how many bad choices do you have to make before you realize you're victimizing yourself? I left home for college, because that's what you're supposed to do. I chose an in-state college, rather than one of my first five choices that I was excepted by, because my mother was ill, and I wanted to be close by.

I love my sister, but I'm not responsible for her bad choices, and more than you would be for mine. I've always done whatever I could for her. Between my mother and I, we've provided for her three children since they were born. My father and I used to share the role of playing father to my nephew. Now I do it on my own on the weekends, since my Dad is ill. The father of her daughters beat her when she was pregnant with her first daughter. And he beat her up several more times after that, before she finally got the hint, or rather before someone intervened. Even after I stomped his ass when I found out, she went back to him. This after that poor baby spent the first month of her life with so many tubes in her she couldn't even cry. And he beat her up several more times after that, before she finally got the hint, or rather before someone intervened. My mom and I make their birthday and christmas wishes come true. I set up college funds for each of them when they were born. If that makes me a jackass, then I'm a jackass and damned proud of it. But I will not take the blame for anyone elses bad choices.

two things at work:

one guy said that smoking pot prevents cancer.

another guy said that obama will get lots of help from his best bud, who has four years experience in the job. he meant bush and he wasn't being sarcastic.

why did they bother to lay a railroad track through town? it bothers everyone. -- moron i knew back in college

yeah because the town totally didn't get built around the railroad track.

I was also responding to a couple of comments that were made off the thread too.

Charles, it was total sarcasm. I hate people who play the victim. The saying is 'when life gives you lemons, make lemonade' not 'when life gives you salmon, make salmonella.'

i would suggest a little prudence here, the idea may not be as far off as it sounds. i'm not claiming that anything is conclusive, but there is definitely some interesting data out there on the topic. among all else, i highly recommend checking out the Canadian documentary The Union (i know, i keep talking about either this music, or this feature, but i'm fascinated).

beautiful.

fucking douche bag that guy. any movie I would suggest we go check out with some friends he would say:

I already downloaded it.

fuck, the only reason he would go see a movie was because

his internet download of the film is too slow.

yes! and to say that he's already seen that.

and that quality of downloaded movies is rubbish. filmed in a movie theatre with a handheld camera. "i've already seen it." yeah, but I saw it with Dolby Digital sound and a 45 foot screen. but I saw it BEFORE you did.

this guy i used to know was upset that they used John Lennon''s vocals to record new beatles songs.

"that's bullshit! how would you feel if they used Sid Vicious' recordings to make new sex pistols songs?"

If anyone else knows about the Sex Pistols they would agree that it is stupid shit to say, cause Sid Vicious didn't even play bass, they would usually unplug his instrument, just so he could be the image that they were looking for.

same fucking douchebag would always try to convince me how Helen Keller was ACTUALLY a socialist, but they don't teach about that in school. and how Barbie Girl by AQUA is actually a great song about sexism.

ugh.

Vicious did try to learn to play...and he was passable before the drugs took over completely. But yes, McLaren was going for a style and feel, more than the music.

My sister called today. "Do you know where Mom is?" OKAY, She lives at home with mom...I am 200 miles away...NO COMMENT
