I Need To Choose A Laptop

Let's make this into a megathread.

 

 

I've got a tough choice here...

 

I can either get a Intel Pentium Dual Core T2390 system running at 1.86GHz for $629.95 before taxes or a Intel Core 2 Duo processor T5870 (2.0GHz 800MHz 2MBL2) running at 2.0Ghz for $703.35.

 

The first one is a Toshiba A200-085 while the second one is a ThinkPad SL500 2746.

The thing is I can get the first one right away but the ThinkPad will take at least 1-2 weeks shipping. I'm currently without a laptop and using a nearly 9 year old shared PC.

 

edit: My old Toshiba was a Pentium M single core 1.73GHz with 512MB of RAM and 100GB drive space.

Yeah I read as much. The cache is waaay bigger too it seems. But fuck I'm getting tired of using this PC.

 

Every buy a Lenovo? I need to know how slow their shipping is.

i use a lenovo for work. i bought 12 of them a while ago, so i can't vouch for their shipping, since this was under different circumstances.

 

 

i'd say try to buy it locally. maybe frontier pc or something. they do a lot of business with lenovo.

I prefer sticking to Toshibas or Lenovos personally but that's a pretty damn good deal.

Lenovo:

 

Good hardware, shit performances. I don't know what IBM does but somehow, their good hardware doesn't work well together (from my experience of course).

 

I'd go with a Dell personally: Good hardware, good casing, good support.

I had an IBM and it was garbage... I'd go with Toshiba personally.

 

But I'm a Mac guy so what does my opinion count for?

Toshiba was my first choice but they don't have what I need for a sane price.
