  1. remember there's that VH1 song that tried to reunite bands and would capture the process live on camera. I remember seeing them trying to reunite the New Kids on the Block for a performance. Didn't happen. It'd be a lil' harder seeing that Matt will be out of the country and do you consider asking Geoff, or Christian for guitar duties?
  2. Anton, congrats on getting to go. Yes, I hope you're allowed to capture the experience somehow be it audio or video. Even better would be to podcast the performance and to access it by donation to one of Matt's charities like Amnesty. have a blast.
  3. remember how Matt's looking for a video of "Weapon" to post? I'm wondering who has a .mov version of it 'cause that's one of my fave videos 'cause of all the messages (plus, I was an extra). But what other video stuff would you want him to post? I actually have some short clips from shows but not sure how he'd feel about that. then again, a search of YouTube shows that i'm not the only one. But he should have something live.
  4. i went with my two friends to Friday's show. we've been waiting for something like this for years. After seeing at least 20 shows, this one was special. As soon as he started playing, it was surreal. From someone who was very sick, he sounded amazing. I yelled out for "So Long Mrs. Smith" and it was a real treat hearing that. It was great hearing the rare stuff like "Fated" and "The Fine Art of Falling Apart" live. Surprise, surprise, someone yelled out for "Rico". It was crazy having that disco ball. During "Avalanche", it was if you were getting hypnotized. Funny how there were two guys that thought they were having one-on-one conversations with Matt (i.e. "you cancelled Victoria", "Where'd you find Melissa?" and the whole 2nd Amendment thing), not helpful as the rest of us just wanted to hear Matt play. The stories were hilarious like his tour stories of driving in a converted ambulance and the time Ian yelled for the van to pull over in the middle of the night and he ran off and disappeared for a half an hour. It was very cool how he just was like "fuck it" when he wasn't sure he could pull it off and played "Fell in Love with a Bad Idea" because someone requested it. Previous people were right, it was so quiet (apart from hearing cameras and people like me singing along). and yes, it was really nice of Matt to stick around for a chat and pictures. He did look exhausted so I hope he gets the rest he deserves. I never noticed any signs that mentioned the show was being recorded. The venue was pretty cool, with a lil' theatre vibe. I'm sure he could of easily played at VECC for a week.
  5. Thanks for the pics Nearfantastica. I'll be sure to get some $ for the tour shirt.
  6. any word on Matt's condition? I hope he's well enough to play by tomorrow.
  7. does anyone have pics (and prices) of what's being sold at the current tour? I've heard there's t thanks.
  8. yes, for pacific colliseum(or B.C. Place, can't remember), they did open for Aerosmith [i didn't see it but classmates in Gr. 10 went and had told me MGB sucked]. They've also played that show with Moist and Gob at the PNE Colliseum. You can't forget to include all the festival shows they've played like Snow Jam, Edgefest and Arts County Fair. I think the fun question would be what's the smallest crowd you've seen Matt or MGB play in. For me, I think it was the Coquitlam HMV in-store but for an actual show I guess it'd be the Party at the Peak Coors Light show up on Grouse [but that included contest winners who didn't even know the band's music]
  9. mine was thanks to the power of good ol' radio and CFOX. i heard "Symbolistic White Walls" for the first time on the Fox and when I tried to look for the band on the internet, it only came up with "Dave Matthews Band" links. Oddly enough, thanks to that, that's how I discovered DMB as well. Apart from that, I dragged my friend to the Coq HMV to see them perform. So, that's how it all began.
  10. for the fri show I'll probably be there 1 or 2 hours before but it also depends if the rain stops by then 'cause it's been pouring all day today which doesn't make line-ups any fun. I've waited outside during winter with double-layered socks in boots years back but come on, it's supposed to be spring weather now! (april showers brings may flowers)
  11. Matt will be free from Universal soon as I believe his contract has him needing to do one more album. I'm thinking, he should do some sort of live performance/DVD to obligate but to catch his live act. They should have recorded the "In a Coma" tour with the whole band but I also think it would be awesome if his solo tour was recorded. Like if there was this one-off performance and maybe get some guests (i.e. Holly McNarland for the "viking" song). the other wicked thing would be to do something with the VSO and do songs like "Weapon", "Avalanche", etc. anyone know what plans Matt has for the next record? mod edit: changed title to "last record with universal" to make thread more general
  12. maybe bring your sidewalk chalk or chess.
  13. My friend told me the VECC holds only like 200+ people and plus it's seated which will be a change from the usual moshers. I am wondering what time doors are.
  14. this is based on songs I think would be a cool experiment: Chris Cornell's "Sunshower" K's Choice "Not an Addict" Damien Rice's "Cold Water" Fiona Apple's "Never is a Promise" Cream's "White Room"
  15. I'm also someone that doesn't have any recordings to trade. Can I still be part of the hub?
  16. off the top of my head: "What if you could make it so that times weren
  17. thanks for the answers. I'll just bring my camera and see what happens. Is anyone planning on recording any of the Vancouver shows?
  18. question for Vancouverites, for the Van East Cultural Centre gigs, are you allowed to bring in digital cameras? And what's the set-up like?

Hmm, I'll try my best to list all the songs they played. They opened with Giant, complete with cheerleader chant. The rest are in no particular order (and sorry if I give one or two wrong songs) Weapon, Poor Man's Grey, Everything is Automatic, Load Me Up, Alert Status Red, In a World Called Catastrophe, Carmelina and for the encore, they played two new songs: one upbeat rocker with lyrics like "lost...control", and a slower one which I had trouble making out the lyrics to as well. Sound quality wasn't all that good but we're dealing with Thunderbird stadium here. hard to say what the group dynamics are with Ryan and Meeghan (bad spelling) in the mix. Most of the material was played straight on, not much in matter of solos or alternative versions of songs. Great weather but of course some people pissed on Matt. Shoes and bottle and other items galore were thrown on stage and many were aiming for the band members. Ryan took it lightly and asked if people were going to chuck shoes on stage to at least throw out a whole pair so he could score some good shoes. Matt was annoyed and told the crowd that he wasn't here to dodge shoes and almost walked off and stopped playing. Luckily he didn't which would have sucked 'cause we would have missed the new material. there's my two cents on the show. Makes me want another Commodore show soon.

    Covers...

Rejoggin my memory, during some tour of Beautiful Midnight, at the Commodore, I remember, during the middle of some song, he sang a bit of the Talking Heads "Once in a Lifetime".
  21. I'm hoping he's on after 6pm 'cause I won't get there from work til that time. So, any word on any new material being played? Oh, the bottles. I hope people think twice before chucking anything on stage. And let's hope the clouds clear up tomorrow night.

    Opener

I second hearing Man of Action but I doubt it since it's not Matt's fave album. Then again, for the Put Out Your Lights tour, he surprised us and did a re-worked version of The Rat Who Would Be King. Since Matt will be playing Arts County Fair,I'd love to hear the band open with an oldie like Haven't Slept in Years or Symbolistic White Walls 'cause it's been a few years (Edgefests, etc) since he's been at T-Bird stadium. Other than that, my votes for 21st Century Living or Pledge of Allegiance (in lieu of the election). I'm still hoping for the resurrections of Fearless, The Fine Art of Falling Apart, Truffle Pigs or Advertising on Police Cars to show up on a future setlist. *crosses fingers*
  23. In no particular order: Fearless The Fine Art of Falling Apart Blue Skies Over Badlands Change of Season Truffle Pigs Advertising on Police Cars Symbolistic White Walls 21st Century Living Prime Time Deliverence Empty Road Baba O'Reily Weapon Apparitions Where is My Mind Enjoy the Silence (I second that suggestion) The Joker (just because it' be awesome to hear that)
  24. It was hearing "Symbolistic White Walls" on CFOX. And back in the caveman days of the internet, when I tried to do a search for "Matthew Good", the only websites that would come up were Dave Matthews. So after some searching at Sam the Record Man, I found a copy of "Last of the Ghetto Astronauts". Then, I was fortunate enough to see MGB play at the HMV in Coquitlam Centre a few years later and even at the Coquitlam Rec Centre. I couldn't believe that someone from my hometown could churn out decent rock.
  25. I'm only guessing here but I'm thinking his April show is for Arts County Fair 'cause when I was purusing some show listings, I noticed that K-OS is listed for playing T-Bird stadium on April 8th as well. So it's anybody's guess if Matt will play older material to get the attention of people away from the beer garden tents or only newer material...
