those are all symptoms strep throat. if you're having heart palpitations, that's another sign I think. know it's strep throat when you're throat hurts like a bitch and the "cold" doesn't go away. you could die from it, good luck!

I disagree. fear was a part of humanity long before michael moore at his first hot dog ;) also before the proliferation of electronic media. prejudice is not inherently a bad thing. it's amoral. we think of it as a bad thing only because the word is normally used with negative associations. nobody calls someone "prejudiced" when their prejudgement is positive. hating someone is not immoral. killing someone based on prejudices stemming from gross ignorance is immoral. but still, it's the killing that's immoral, not the prejudice. in fact, prejudice is not only not a bad thing, it's a completely essential part of the thought process and it's essential for survival. it's a survival tool. people aren't born with unlimited knowledge, so have to rely on intuition and past experience in order to judge what's good and what's bad. some fears are instilled in people from years of evolution, (spiders, heights). if you're not afraid of heights you might fall off a cliff and die. prejudice is a good thing when you know not to play with a cobra. you might say that fear is different from prejudice, but it's not . it's a feeling you have with lack of evidence. as a kid you fear poison ivy because your parents told you to stay away from it, although you don't have a damn clue why that's true other than you're biased(prejudiced) in favor of your parents. we're programmed to look for similarities. and if you get into 20 car accidents involving 20 red sports cars, you will likely have become prejudiced before the 3rd accident. and that's not a bad thing, it's your body telling you that if you want to stay alive, stay the fuck away from red cars. and so wishing death upon millions is completely valid

I'm curious to know why he thinks white people are a problem? He never even siad. at least hitler had reasons, even though they were stupid ones. it's a shame that attitudes like this still exist, although it annoys me when people go the opposite way and pretend that they're free from prejudice. everyone is prejudiced about just about everything. anyone who says otherwise is either lying or ignorant about themselves. it's just a matter of to what degree are you prejudiced, and whether or not you act adversely to your prejudice. my biggest prejudice is probably against black people. that doesn't mean I'm racist, it means that if I'm walking alone at night I'll be more worried if I cross paths with a black dude, if only for a second, as opposed to crossing paths with a white guy. ya gotta understand your prejudices not hide them or lie. we're all prejudiced against that guy! he's probably not even stupid. most likely he's had negative experiences with white people before that have made him angry in the same that we've had experiences which tend to make us prejudiced against ignorant, genocidal bigots.

the plot doesn't advance until it they advance it. this really isn't a trivial problem. it literally means that the story is suspended. we're talking about something around the likes of , what, 80 hours of filler?! It's going to come together, yes, but I doubt that in the year 2034 or whenever the show ends, I doubt that the 500 hours kate, sawyer, and jack spent staring at each other will have been warranted as a fascinating component of mystery of lost. there's no reason why they can't make entertaining episodes while we wait for them to advance the story. instead of having them stand around looking purturbed, why not have a riveting beach volleyball tournament!! or have the characters interact with each other and develop sub-plots, conflict etc
-
the problem is not just that they're not advancing the plot. it's that they pretend as if they're advancing the plot, and then they dont, at all. each episode is played out as if something vital to the story is just around the corner, or that something important has been revealed when it hasn't. for example, that entire episode episode when they came across the russian dude while on their way to save jack. nothing was learned in that episode the cliffhangers last, what, 8 hours, how long is a season? they literally had commercials saying, "secrets will be revealed!", and then, nothing. when there's no plot, and no sub-plots, nothing happens! you get people just walkin around looking at each other, which is most of lost. they walk around looking forworn and emotionally intense. I wonder what's behind, THIS WALL,do do doooo.

i remember being in the incubator. people will say it's a constructed memory but I've described the room and my surroundings, and they were all true. I remember chasing my brother while in a baby walker, i guess when i was 2 or so. i remember stuff from when i was 3, 4 ,5 , tons . on my first day of school I clung to the door frame while the teacher tried pulling me in. i hid in the coat area then tried to escape but they'd locked the door on me

here's what I think. bloody amazing movie. gerard butler's performance was awsome. soundtrack was pretty cool. I was really impressed with all the neat little cinematography/symbolism tricks they pulled out throughout the entire movie. and it played much like an actual theater play meets comic book movie.(zack snyder). the color and blood fx was awsome. I'm only disappointed with the cohreography for the fight scenes. I know the spartans were meant to be badass, but it would have been more effective if the persians had some decent movies. c'mon, they were just walking into the swords of the spartans like bumbling idiots. stab stab stab. they made it look like I could kill a thousand persians. special effects = awsome, choreography = shat. also, there were few decent shots of spartans being maimed/killed Arnold must be pissed. you have to understand that none the spartans could hold a candle to arnold in his prime, yet their abs looked twice the size of arnold's. someone should win an award for that special effect/make-up. it was inspired by braveheart(stole things). "fight with your head, then with your heart" is a corny ripoff. they also copied the movie ending. another thing that annoyed me was their mysterious non- accent. they did the trying-to-be-epic, whisering, lord-of-the-rings type talking. lame oh yeah, and the severe egoism sort of took away from their heroism. hero's don't spend entire movies saying "they will remember us!", "we are honorable!" etc, it's like, if you're such a man, shut up and fight. the dialogue was awsome, and the movie flowed well

I dunno, I just thought the character development was better in saving private ryan, if we're going to compare the two movies. that's just my opinion. maybe schindler's list is better overall, but I enjoyed Saving Private Ryan more. I can relate to it more. it wasn't as drab. granted, it waaas the holocaust, although the jews appeared more indifferent than despondent. that's seems to be how jews appear in every holocaust movie that I've seen. they take off their clothes as if they're seeing the doctor, not as if they're going to be shot. perhaps that's how it was in real life, although I doubt it. maybe that's something you just can't reenact. the cinematography was great, although I don't think it's that much better than saving private ryan. any movie made in black and white, with a holocaust storyline, is bound to earn extra brownie points with critics. it's moving regardless of how well the movie is made. that's not to say it wasn't well made, it's just that it's successful moreso becasue of the emotion of the viewer, not because it's otherwise a particularly great movie. there's nothing more cliche than combat movies, but saving private ryan was still very effective. in that respect it's probably a better achievement than schindler's list.

Three Way Tie On Jeopardy
heyrabbit replied to Crusader's topic in Rentals, Television, and Readables
nah probability just says it's damn unlikely.I guess it's more likely if they can look at what the guy next to them is betting. I didn't even know this show was still on. if they want to boost ratings they should team them up against ken -
well, i wouldn't say Schindler's List is a "war movie" when compared to Saving Private Ryan or Glory or Platoon sure it is. almost every war movie focuses on one side of the conflict. in that movie it just happened to focus on the jews and the 3rd reich. I mean, that's the source of the conflict for the entire war. concentration camps, genocide, watching every family member getting shot in the head. what's more "war-ish" than that? it's not a battle movie, just a war movie. although saving private ryan was better, I thought, even though they're two very different movies.

what's wax and wane? I like the deftone's almost as much, even though nobody else seems to like it. it is really whiny, but that's their style anyway
