I definitely never tried to imply that all homeless people were lazy, or that they weren't legitimately in desperate. They're desperate, but not necessarily for food or shelter. it's a complete fallacy, the idea that homeless are just trying to eat to survive, or even that they're the weakest members of society. What about new immigrants who come to the country with 10 kids and they're education is worth nothing, so they have to work 100 hours a week at a shit job. I don't know about you, but I don't see many skinny homeless people. I'd wager that they eat as good as the average middle class citizen, and they are definitely living like royalty compared to the third world. They don't do much, so they end much of their time eating, drinking and whatever else ( not unlike inactive people with homes). no matter much a person is taking advantage of society by playing the victim, they're still people who are obviously unable of doing what's in their best interest. Even if you're completely acting homeless to make extra $$, there's something fucked up in your life. They all suffer, to one extent or another, from cognitive dissonance. That's why homelessness is much like an addiction or a disability. Their sense of life has been damaged. Their mood and cognitive abilities suffer, which affects their decisions and further ruins their mood. can you imagine the depression and psychological damage caused by sleeping in garbage? Upper class citizens can be in an emotional gutter. imagine how debilitated you could be if you SLEEP in the gutter. they need cognitive therapy. with that being said, you're not helping a homeless person by giving them money. every time you give them money, you're causing their homeless by enabling them. What percentage of homeless people are going to starve, or even go hungry, if you don't give them money? also, there's a big difference between telemarketers and the homeless. begging is extremely presumptuous and offensive. they lay an emotional guilt trip on you, and instill fear and anxiety in a lot of people. Nobody ever said to me, "I'm sorry to bother you, but I haven't eaten...", no it's "spare change?". I wouldn't even ask someone for directions without a bit of politeness. But to ask someone for the product of their labor, their means of survival, is really very obnoxious. It's really not much different than if I were to go up to a girl and say, "do you have sex?". I'm a 6 ft male and I'm uncomfortable around beggars. think of all the young females who are constantly scared into giving money. Some people have actually been convicted of robbery in extreme instances like that where a homeless person followed along.

you hit that nail on the head. it's immoral, in my books, to give to the homeless, even though I do it sometimes myself. you just have to remember that every time you give to a homeless person, you're causing their homelessness. in fact, maybe we should prosecute people who enable the homeless. it's abuse in the same way that feeding fat children is abuse. cruelty... This is the best solution I can think of: let's have the homeless register with the government and they can beg for free, anywhere in the city, provided they pay a fixed amount of taxes, say, 500 dollars a year. The rest of the money they're allowed to keep. if they don't pay, they're given 6 months to get a job or else they go to jail. sound fair?

Yeah, it wouldn't be implementable, but that's like any other law. what it would do is allow officers, or whoever else, to give them an ultimatum and force them into the government funded shelters that we pay for with our taxes.(When you pay a homeless man, you're paying him twice). It would be similar to the law forbidding drunken intoxication. And even though I support the idea of outlawing panhandling, I think the whole idea of retributive justice and punishment is stupid. it's not only draconian, or bronze-age, but stone age! If you do something bad, I'm going to lock you in a cage! If you do something bad, I'll hurt you. etc. it stems from a degenerate, naturalistic culture which supports the notion that man cannot change. The system hasn't changed... ever, in civilization. you're right about the mentally ill. I've worked around psychiatric patients in a hospital and later seen them on the street! that's really unacceptable. one other thing. I don't think it's fair that we live in a society where unlicensed street vendors are prosecuted, but beggars aren't. if someone's actually offering a fair market trade of wealth, THAT's illegal. but if someone just wants something for free without working for it, that's okay. One thing I always do is ask the homeless person why they want the money. If they're so brazen as to ask me for free wealth, why can't they tell me what they need the money for? I don't even lend money to blood relatives or friends without an explanation, so I'm certainly not doing that for some random stranger who emotionally blackmails me.(it's an offensive position, begging) when someone asks for money, it's normal and appropriate to ask why. And what I find is that the homeless look perplexed. they simply want me to drop money in their hands, or if they're too lazy to extend their hands, they use a cup. they're not only too lazy to work, but too lazy to beg, which makes me suspect that they don't need the money, they just want it. my approach is that if they're destitute that need to bother me, then can tell me why. if not, then they proabably don't actually need the money. It's nice that you want my money, but I want your money, too What I do now is when someone asks me,"do you have any spare change?", I always say, "for whom and for what purpose?". that usually ends that discussion. or I'll say, "do you have any spare change?". that ends that too because they DO have spare change. they've been collecting everyone else's spare change all day

So the hot topic has been panhandling after a man in Toronto was stabbed to death by hobo(s). An altercation ensued after the man declined a request for spare change. I can't speak on behalf of every city, but there's an entire culture of "homeless" con artists in toronto. For some people, it's just easier to panhandle than it is to work. Many collect money averaging over minimum wage and it's all tax free. A lot of people panhandle part time to earn extra money. many of these people are addicts and or mentally ill, which makes the situation very complicated. I like to think that I have a keen sense for who's a con. whether or not they are cons, I tend to not give money because it enables them. discuss

wwait I think I know the answer. the intergalactic makeup artists were unable to go at warp speed or, they're all planetary cousins whose only differing adaptattoins is their foreheads. and spandex is the only space-aged material that can protect everyone form the stars' ultraviolet rays

hahah, doug. I remember that show

yes, it is the height of immorality. it's is maybe the greatest evil in the world. the idea of altruism is actually a fallacy because it's based on a false premise of reality. there is no such thing as an unselfish action. I'm just mocking the anti-capitalism image because its implied meaning is more suitable for the antithesis of capitalism, altruism those two stick men are really liberals or communists

good yamahas are good. bad ones are terrible. My first guitar was an entry level yamaha. the only upside to it was that by the time I upgraded, I was so used to pressing down mega hard on the strings that every guitar I've used since feels like butter, or cake, or whatever the phrase would be anyway, yeah try cash converters. sometimes you can get really good deals there. Even if you get guitar with a hole in the body, or scratches, it can be so trivial that it doesn't effect the sound or mechanics, but th eprice is cheap

it was a decent show. though I always found it dorky that even though they traveled to other galaxies, the aliens were exactly the same as humans except for their ears/forehead. they even wore spandex if I were a science-fiction nerd, I'd demand more creativity. maybe that's why I've always hated science fiction

I dunno who he was either. why does everyone say holy cow? did he coin that phrase or something? I thought I'd seen every seinfeld episode...

takamine doesn't really make any entry level guitars. no matter whatyou get, you can be pretty sure it's not a bad ugitar. they're cheapest models are solid actually if you just want to learn, try cash converters.(if there are any where you live) I always see decent guitars there for cheap, like 75/100 bucks.
-
takamine is an awsome brand. They sell some of the best quality guitars for the $$, especially if your budget is midrange. it's also been a brand preferred by matt Seagull is another great Godin brand. they're made in canada, so you can get a decent one for cheap. pretty underrated I think don't get a yamaha or a washburn, or shit like that. yamaha doesn't make any good midrange guitars. also, think about body style + type of wood. cedar body = warm + bright tone. rosewood= mellow. etc
