  1. Actually, that kinda sorta makes sense. CFOX's website had it listed as "Wednesday 11pm, Sunday 5pm". That ordering struck me a little odd when I saw it - I figured if the Edge and CFOX were both airing it on Sundays, that it would be the same episode.
  2. http://www.edge.ca/StationShared/OHNM.aspx It looks like it was on at 9am this morning, but that it's on tomorrow (Monday) at 11:30pm. CFOX: Today at 5pm PT, Wednesday at 11pm PT.
  3. In the States, too, for some reason. I found two AOB limited editions at different FYE stores. At least one of them was "new" in their $5 budget bin.
  4. The ones on the Lyrics page are guesses for the demo version, not for the album. If I'm not mistaken, the Vancouver CD booklet has the actual lyrics (I thought I read that somewhere - I bought it off iTunes), so I'm assuming we're just waiting for Anton to have time to update them.
  5. Gimme an 'r' Gimme an 'o' Gimme a 'c' Gimme a 'k' Whatcha got, rock? Gimme a 'y' Gimme an 'o' Gimme a 'u' Whatcha gonna do? (Audience member: ROCK YOU) Rock you /hilarious //wholeheartedly support this petition ///especially fated
  6. I'm pretty sure this is how many albums (especially older ones) are delivered to iTunes. I think they're ripped from CDs and sent in a lossless format to Apple, who then creates the AAC's. It'd be nice if they could always go back to the files that used to manufacture the original CDs, but I can't imagine that those files would still exist - if they ever did - for albums that were released more than 15 years ago. In particular, I think Cobraside is just taking the albums they're sent via CD and ripping them. Compare the versions of Vancouver between iTunes Canada and iTunes US. The iTunes Canada version is from Universal - the artwork is clean, and the song files sound perfect. The version that's on iTunes US is from Cobraside - the artwork looks a little fuzzy (the color's off) and some of the song files have skips in them. I'm not sure how Matt's deal with Cobraside is set up (I'm assuming Universal isn't involved), but it'd be great if the albums could be delivered to Apple using the lossless files that Universal sent rather than having Cobraside create them themselves. Anytime you burn/press to audio CD and re-rip, you're likely to introduce errors.
  7. Sounds like we've got a couple of issues with the iTunes files, so here's the one-at-a-time: 1) If the songs sound mushy, that's the iTunes 9 bug. The only workaround I'm aware of is to change the file extensions from .m4a to .mp4. (I know that works in Windows, not sure about Mac, I assume not on iPhone.) 2) If the files are skipping, that's just bad encoding. It's not necessarily iTunes' fault - it's possible (likely) that they were delivered that way. (For those with skipping - are all of you downloading from the US store? I didn't notice skips in the files I got from the Canadian store.) Dale's got good instructions on what to do: http://www.matthewgood.org/2009/10/itunes-...sues-vancouver/ I've had this happen before, and they just credited my account with free songs. (They gave me three free songs for one bad one, but I don't know what they'll do if it's two or three on the same album.) The sad part is that I've never had them redeliver a "fixed" download - in fact, most of the faulty songs I've downloaded in the past are still on iTunes with skips in them. Hopefully, if Matt's aware of the problem, Apple (and/or Cobraside) will be more proactive about fixing the files.
  8. BTW - if the iTunes version sounds a bit crappy to any of you, it's because Apple screwed up the playback codec in iTunes 9. The files are fine. (Long story short, iTunes 9 incorrectly guesses which type of file it's playing when it plays back AAC files.) People are assuming/hoping that they'll get it fixed in a future update. In other words, if you haven't downloaded iTunes 9 yet, don't do it - stick with iTunes 8. I have to admit, I'm glad I downloaded the preorder. I'd forgotten how much I dug that solo acoustic version of 99%. (Now, if he'll only consider releasing the last encore of that show - especially "Fated".) For any Americans wanting the two bonus tracks - see if you can track down (or get someone to buy you) a Canadian iTunes gift card. If you set up an account with a legit Canadian address (post offices work), it'll work - Apple doesn't (currently) check IP addresses or anything. Yeah, that's gonna happen.
  9. The pre-order is Canada only. Not sure yet if the US version will have any of the bonus tracks. Since it's being distributed by Cobraside outside of Canada (not by Universal), I'm assuming it'll just be the album.
  10. Not exactly what's requested in the topic, but I really think that Matt should consider doing a main set, then a four to five song solo acoustic set, then a final full-band encore. He'd be able to focus the band on certain songs while adding more spontanaeity. I saw Paul McCartney this summer, and the brief solo acoustic set he did was one of the highlights of the show.
  11. Georgian College tickets: http://www.ticketbreak.com/event_details/3107 Just don't wear high heels to the show. (?!?)
  12. The seating charts I found only note rows A through S. Some places have temporary seating - rows AA through EE (for example) - in front of A. There's a chance you might have front row.
  13. I still like the HTB remix better than the original. More rock power, and the sound effects work really well at a louder volume. But Chris Lord-Alge was a terrible mixer in those days (with some modest improvement in recent years, starting with Green Day's American Idiot). The HTB remix is the only one on the US version that I like. (Lord-Alge was the "big name" mixer that every label would turn to for their "new" acts - I'm assuming he must have been dirt cheap to hire. His brother Tom did way better work.)
  14. The shows I saw in 2007 (St. Catharines, Massey) and 2008 (Kitchener, Hamilton) were all sit down, and were all fantastic. The solo acoustic sets really work sitting down, especially when Matt's feeling chatty. People stood up at the full-band shows when the moment called for it, so being seated didn't bother me. (Plus, I'm old, so the lure of standing for an hour and a half has waned a bit - though I still love it at full-on rock shows.)

  16. For anyone who's been procrastinating - they just added a second Massey Hall show (Saturday the 19th). Tickets already on sale. Edit: Might as well mention that they also filled in the gap before the Saskatoon show with a second Calgary show.
  17. It's not out of the question, but I don't think it's likely. The best chance for a show like that to happen was in the gap left by the cancellation of the Kelowna show, but they've since filled that gap with a show in Cranbrook.
  18. The presale non-$55 Massey seats were better than the presale non-$55 Hamilton seats. (Hamilton offered second balcony for non-$55. Hopefully, they're not charging $55 for the entire orchestra.)
  19. I think it's physically bigger than Massey Hall, but it has fewer seats (still more than 2000). It's built like an opera house and is much more open. The seats are bigger, too. (The upper balcony seat I had at Massey in 2007 was not particularly comfortable - the rows are really close together, at least in the balcony. I'm a relatively small guy, and I was hating it at times. Still an amazing show.) As far as shows go, Matt's shows at Massey generally have a "special" vibe - he knows the history of the venue, and he seems to play to it. Therefore, a betting man would say that the Massey show will probably be more "special" (especially if it ends up being the last show of the tour). But there's also going to be way more competition for Massey tickets, especially at the on-sale. I had fourth row at the Hamilton show last year without much effort. Plus, getting to Massey (parking, etc) is (comparatively) a pain in the ass. I guess what I'm saying - if you can make Massey, make Massey. But the Hamilton show would be a shorter drive (from Buffalo), easier to get to, and more comfortable (and probably closer) seats. At least worth considering. The presale stuff is just nonsense. It's so hard to track what's actually being sold. For example, it's not out of the realm of possiblity that Live Nation could be a selling a different and/or better pool of seats. It's possible that both TM and LN are only selling certain sections in the presale - ie, none of the great ones. I came in late to the presale for the 2007 Massey show, and came away with a second-row upper balcony seat. That would have been great had people not scored fifth and sixth row floor seats the next day in the regular on-sale. The presales feel a little bit like gambling. Try the TM presale - if you don't get something good, try the LN presale - if you don't get something good, try the Friday on-sale. The hard part is figuring out what "good" is.
  20. And it looks like a lot of the venues are doing some kind of "Golden Circle" seating for $54.50. (It's posted on Massey Hall's website, so they're doing it, too - hopefully, it's not the entire floor.) BTW - Buffalonians should keep that Hamilton show in mind, too. Maybe not the same cachet as Massey Hall, but I really dug that venue when I went last year.
  21. It looks like somebody goofed - the venue already has a show booked for November 12th.
  22. With so many shows going on sale this week, I'm hoping that Matt will release the complete list sometime in the next couple of days. (It'd certainly make my travel decision that much easier.)
  23. Nov 27 - Parry Sound, ON - Stockey Centre http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=34590190047
