If you can find the Going Coastal video where they filmed the recording of AoB, there's a scene where Matt's playing it in the studio. You can easily make out how he's playing it.

I've always been fond of this song.

How Many Times Have You Seen Matt Live?
Bigger Than Jesus replied to saraislipknot's topic in Matthew Good
Upwards of 35-40 times since 1999. -
Personally, I think the songs on this album are fantastic. Lyrically and instrumentally, I really enjoy the album. That said, and this is in no way an insult to the album, I don't really like the mixing/production of it. I find that if you look back at all the albums Warne Livesy produced, the music and vocals sort of unite, they flow together (if that makes sense). You got a sense that everything belonged. With this album (and Hospital Music, for that matter) I find that it sounds like a lot of things thrown together- it sounds like a bunch of separate tracks rather than one solid mix. I know people may disagree and that's cool. Just my own observation, and I'm in no way trying to shit on the album itself...because it's pretty awesome.

I don't know if anyone has seen this already, but you can vote for MG to be XM's artist of the year, and for 'Live at Massey Hall' to be album of the year here: http://www.thevergeonline.com/vma/voting.php

I agree! The distinct playing styles, specifically of Chris and Pat, really added something to the experience of being there. The addition of their 'isms' to the songs, making them significantly different than the recordings in many cases, was really awesome. That said, this band IS tight. It's just different.

Bought this album today. It's pretty awesome. I would recommend it. I, however, made the mistake of buying the actual CD and not the iTunes version, which comes with an extra song that is 'album only'. That said, I recommend getting it, but definitely from iTunes. That said, anyone know how I can get the song 'Threats' without having to pay for the album twice?
-
if you buy them from massey hall directly instead of ticket master, they only come to $49 after service charge and 'mailing charge'.
-
i'd go with 'while we were hunting rabbits'
-
i can also trade for this demo...i reeeeeeally want to hear it...for the love of all that is holy, can someone pleeeeeeease send me this song? ;)
-
i really dig volcanoes. when it picks up it has a really nice 'avalanche' era sound to it i think...i also really like 'the boy who could explode'. 'fought to fight it' is good, but it just doesn't have the same effect as the other two...i my opinion

i can't stand finger 11. i think they'll win because of their success, but it's a bad idea to reward bad music. it's like feeding a raccoon, they'll just keep coming back.
-
i'm willing to trade a kidney, or my left foot, for this demo...anyone?
-
are there any kind souls out there willing to send me this song? please?? double please?

Yeah, I don't think the hub is operational anymore. noise_pollution, if you could sent it to me or put it on yousendit or something, that would be AWESOME. I'd really appreciate that!! No rush though! Get through your rough week first!

Does anyone know where I could get a copy of the Kool Haus show from March 2003 (Avalanche tour)? My computer was stolen a few years ago, so I don't have it anymore...

yeah, tripoli's been played MANY times in the past. that was one of the few AOB songs that was played live in the 'transition' tour after the breakup of MGB, and it's been rehashed a few times since then.

I agree, the acoustic Thrush that Joel plays is great. I saw him last saturday night, and he played "Before You Leave" with his dad. It was awesome. At an acoustic show last year, someone requested 'Uneventful', so he played what he remembered. It's one of my favourites. And yes, the Circle C album is floating around in used record stores. A friend of mine got me a copy from a place in Vancouver.

the good thing about thrush hermit is that joel plaskett still plays thrush songs at his shows. and since ian plays bass in the emergency, you get half (if not more) of the thrush experience. and i agree, love story is great. i think i like hidden world more though. anyone who's feeling REALLY inspired should get the circle C album. IT is gold.
