  1. That's awesome. For your sake, I hope it goes through as well. I'm in Row A of the uppermost balcony for that show, but at least I get to go:D
  2. I would think you should be safe going that direction.
  3. Yeah, I started it a few minutes ago just to hear the last note of Volcanoes. Damn.
  4. I was saying this afternoon that the second Calgary show would be the first Cowtown show I'll miss in over 10 years, all due to finances. My boyfriend said I couldn't break the record. So we're going, and sitting WAY up in the upper-most balcony (row A), and I won't have to miss it after all. I feel loved, but I can't help but wonder if he's an enabler of this addiction I have. >;)
  5. Where the hell am I going to come up with the cash to see a second Calgary show? Even nosebleed balcony seats aren't cheap. They should have $20 "to stand in the doorway seats." And before you ask, yes it's worth it. They usually always switch up the set list.
  6. I agree. I've seen Matt over 50 times. I did the up-front-so-close-I-could-almost-touch-him thing a few times, and then it got boring. I'd much rather find a decent seat where I can still see at a distance, and relax and enjoy the music. Though the up-close thing did at one time have its appeal:)
  7. I paid $110 for 2 seats after taxes and service charges. The tickets were $39.50 each. Ticketmaster's service charges get more outrageous with each passing year.
  8. I am in the Center Dress Circle, Row A. Right in the middle where I like to be, without having to fork out the extra cash for the floor. I got some pretty decent pictures the last time he played Jack Singer. I'm really looking forward to this. It just happens to fall on my Uni grad weekend:)
  9. I just bought tickets for Calgary. Vancouver is *not* the livenation pre-sale code. I googled it and came up with "Hollywood" and that worked. I'd give that a try.
  10. *ahem* I think you meant "wilderness of razorblades" ;) jk
  11. I would always just borrow the books from the library. If I had to buy them, eBay was a great tool. I just noticed the pre-order page now. I'm glad I checked.
  12. I have another concert date where he played this. The sound quality of mine leaves much to be desired. This one is much better:) Thanks for sharing the link. I agree - this version of the song is the best I've heard.
  13. I like White Light. The entire album is summer to me, but that's probably because it was the only thing I listened to in summer '04.
  14. Either that or just bored ;) I know that's what drove me to keep reading. It's a slow week at work.
  15. I loved the headline. "Canadian Singer Blasts Junos." I knew what it would be before I clicked the link. It's kind of sad that they can't think of anything new to write about the Junos. Why not advertise that the event is green powered or something like that? There are plenty of people who'd find controversy in that. >;)
  16. My favorite thing is the comments left by users. Yet again, there are people who fail to comprehend what they are reading. I recommend browsing through. It's good for a laugh or two.
  17. Riiight. I'd forgotten about that. I thought it was just a management devision though, and that is only affected online (to Canada post) expresspost orders? huh. Well, I'll stop complaining then:) To Calgary Dave: No, I didn't get a signed copy. My plan was to get it signed last weekend, but it didn't happen.
  18. I live in Calgary. I pre-ordered the CD and it came this morning. It says on the site "up to 2 weeks" for standard mail delivery. They certainly weren't kidding. I thought it was a bit ridiculous given that I live in a major city, and I can get packages from Florida faster on standard mail than I can from Maple Music.
  19. Same here. I have one. "Emtpy's Theme Park." It's absolutely gorgeous and I listen to it repeatedly. I heard somewhere that he put it up again with an extended ending or something, but maybe I'm imagining things. But yeah, for the first time in years, the new album will be mostly a complete suprise to me.
  20. I am looking forward to a day when Apparitions doesn't make the setlist. I've seen 48 shows, and only one of them without Apparitions. It was supposed to be in the set, but he got his teeth knocked out and never made it to that song. I realize that Apparitions is *the* song, and it's the song people pay to see, but someday....just maybe, he'll shock the hell out of the audience and not play it. I hope I'm there to see it.
  21. I just got mine today. I haven't had the opportunity to listen to anything until now. I've just come back from hearing these songs live in the past 3 days, so I'm comparing (perhaps unfairly), but I find the sound to be quite hollow on the CD. There isn't enough "push" for lack of a better way to describe it. I don't think the audio is loud enough for some of the instruments. The drums in particular seem lacking to me. It's not the skill of the drummer, but the recording. I guess I'm just used to bootlegs...they're far less polished, but they better capture the volume and scale of the live performance than this clean finished product. I've only listened to it twice through. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to have it and it might grow on me, but these are my initial thoughts. Anyone else have a similar feeling and perhaps a better way to describe it? *edit* It sounds great in the car. Perhaps it's the all-encompassing sound that does it. Or perhaps I need a better home stereo...
  22. I just came back from the Medicine Hat show. Matt said that when he played on the mountain in Banff last night, that the altitude made him rush off stage at the end, puke, and pass out. He said he "played one of those radio things last night. You know, where you gotta play all the radio hits." So tonights show had an "eclectic" set. The show in Medicine Hat tonight was almost pure fan service. Once again, my setlist is probably 100% out of order, but here is what I remember: A Single Explosion Avalanche Odette 99% of Us is Failure I'm a Window It's Been a While Since I was your Man Blue Skies Over Bad Lands Weapon Born Losers Black Helicopter Apparitions True Love Will Find You In the End Giant Hello Time Bomb Load Me Up Champions of Nothing I have some pictures. When I get back to Calgary I'll put them up and post a link here. This was an absolutely fantastic weekend. I feel fortunate that I was able to experience it.
  23. The show last night was pretty awesome. He played the ski lodge at Mount Norquay. There were about 300 people packed onto buses and driven up the mountain. It was the smallest crowd I've shared a Matt Good show with. He started playing at 11:30, and had some problems with the sound equipment and channels on his guitar. He bitched about it and thy made several attempts to fix it before he gave up and said it was "good enough, let's fuckin' rock and roll." He played until 1am. I was pleasantly surprised to see 2-3 other people in the room singing along. I was glad there were more fans there. The majority of the crowd were drunken morons though. Here is a setlist. I am not convinced it's in the right order, but I think all of the songs are there. If I remember anything else I'll update it later. Pictures are on the way. I'll upload them with the Medicine Hat pics I take tonight. Giant Hello Time Bomb A Single Explosion Odette The Devil's in the Details Black Helicopter Load Me Up Apparitions Put Out Your Lights Blue Skies Over Bad Lands Born Losers I'm a Window Weapon Champions of Nothing Girl in the War
  24. Was anyone actually able to find this at "retail?" I called a number of different stores that carry music, and none of them had it. I ended up just ordering from Maple Music. I'm certainly glad I didn't drive around looking for it.
  25. So, the contest at X92.9 is over, and after weeks of trying, giving up, and then pulling every industry string I could think of, I finally got into the show. So I am going to the show in Banff on Friday, and then driving to Medicine Hat for the following show on Saturday night. I'm dragging the boyfriend along for the ride. I'm really looking forward to it:)
