Hello Gomo! ::waves:: Yay for New York MG fans! And I will third Change of Season being a lovely track. ;) (Also, sorry about posting the same thing twice! I hadn't noticed that earlier. The page wasn't loading when I posted and I refreshed and it must have ... posted again. I take it I can't delete it, though. )

And I thought I was the only one! The U.S. version of Beautiful Midnight was the first Matt Good album I ever got, and I've never quite been able to shake my association of Apparitions, Deep Six, and EIA with BM. I tend to feel like my copy of Underdogs had extra songs put on it, instead of it being the other way around. And when trying to form an opinion on Underdogs, I have to forcibly remind myself that those three songs are actually a part of the album. Damn youuuu, U.S. Beautiful Midnight, for messing with the MG album experience! Although I am thankful at least one MG album is available in stores here (even if the track listing is wrong :/).

Ooo, these are great! I especially love the History Teacher one. Also, interesting to know Matt is partial to Helvetica. I had never noticed before. Does anyone know whether he controls every aspect of album cover (and booklet) design, or does he just pick the cover art and someone else takes it from there?

I've heard of triathletes being out of breath at altitudes as low as Banff (and by this I mean when they're just visiting, not when they're running a marathon or anything), so I think even if you're healthy you can be affected by that kind of change in altitude. It seems to vary pretty randomly from person to person. I'm sure the smoking doesn't help either ...
-
Oh poor Matt! I can't believe he managed to play an entire show if he was sick from the altitude. :/ What a professional. In any case, it sounds like both shows were still awesome, the drunken morons at Banff aside. ;) The Hat setlist looks like it was amazing. And I can't remember him playing "It's Been a While ..." at all on this tour before. Thanks for the recaps, I'll be looking forward to pics! Great to hear you had a nice time.

I've only listened to the CD off iTunes so far, and the singing wasn't so bad that I would say Matt "stunk," but I'd agree that it was mediocre. I was thinking it was just because he's getting older and his voice is starting to wear down, but then again, his voice is still rich and soaring on many of the recent acoustic bootlegs on YouTube. I do remember him writing a post about how, after touring acoustically for so long, he was really straining to sing with a full band because he had to push himself so hard. So maybe it really is getting used to the band vibe again that's messing him up? The only thing I really disagree on is the comment about Champions and Avalanche. For me at least, those are two of the songs where his singing does work ... on Avalanche especially it adds this extra level of desperation to the song. But that's just personal preference. =)

Yep, I got an email confirmation from MapleMusic on the 4th. Although it technically wasn't from MapleMusic but from Canada Post. And according to the online tracking website, the CD finally left Canada today. I noticed at least one other person hadn't gotten a confirmation email yet, though. That is pretty weird ... maybe it went into your spam folder?

Whoa, for a minute there I thought you said Underdogs is the only MG CD you *do* own. Then my answer would have been a horrified "yes"! There are a few songs on Underdogs I always skip, but I'd say it's worth owning for Prime Time Deliverance at least. Also, if you like Matt's more upbeat songs, it's got a few great ones that never became singles. And you don't have Everything Is Automatic, Apparitions, Rico, or Indestructible? Really?

Thanks for the lyrics, Shane! And yeah, I agree with Dave and Jane ... that song is heartbreakingly beautiful. The "bear it like you'll never let it show" line kills me. It's going to be one long wait until this album comes out.

I'd never heard these three before (although you're right, I think they were posted before) and they are blowing me away with how lush and sweeping they are. Also, now that I've heard about half the demos, I'm really impressed by how cohesively they all fit together. This album is going to kick ass. The post about making the demos is super interesting by itself, too. I really want to get GarageBand. ;)
-
I've only heard two of the other recent demos (Last Parade and Life in Spite of Itself) but this one is my favorite so far. It reminded me of Flight Recorder from Viking 7 during the opening, then turned into something ... totally different that doesn't really remind me of anything else Matt's done before. I love it. ;) Also, I can't believe the man wrote this while trying to create fake spa music. That story alone makes this song awesome in my books.

Just watched. Very nice job! I really liked the guitar tempo; as Dave said, it felt like Matt's live performances. And the emotion behind the vocals was bang on. ;)

What's the difference between these and the regular versions? As for how much you should sell everything for, I have no idea. :/ Maybe check ebay and see how much they (or similar items) are going for there?

This is an odd, and probably overly nosy question but ... does anyone else get the impression that Matt, Dale, and Duane had a falling out? Someone made a comment on the blog asking whether they're still on good terms and now I'm noticing ... things ... that I hadn't noticed before ... I feel really bad about bringing this up since it's obviously none of my business--plus it's ultimately irrelevant if Matt keeps the blog going--so feel free to just tell me it's none of my business and that I should bug off and get a life. It has been bothering me, though; I always thought of them as a dynamic web trio of sorts and, lame as this might sound, I'd be sad to see them split ways.
-
Oh, sweet! The last time I checked they only had the "She's In It For The Money" ladies shirts which, err, is not my style. I wasn't able to buy the new MG shirts during the band tour, either, so I am happy to see them online now. ;)

I'm pretty confused about the change in the contributing authors myself. Matt says the current contributors will still be making guest entries so ... what exactly is the difference between making guest entries and being a contributing author? It sounds like the same thing to me. Maybe they just won't be listed as official MG.org authors on the site? Well, as long as Roy, Patrick, Dale, et al still pitch in, I don't care what their title is. =P
-
Whoa, thank you! I had no idea there even was an instrumental version of Weapon.
-
Yep, as Austin said, he's reworking it--or at least that was the last I heard on his Twitter. He said since he wasn't updating Dear San Diego enough, he was going to combine it with his just-for-fun Bangkok Rubdown site. He's deleted all of the Tweets about that now, so that may not be the plan anymore at all, but hopefully the DSD stuff comes back in one form another. I was really getting into it. ;)

I haven't either and I ordered about an hour ago ... this is making me paranoid. I can still access my receipt on the site, though, so ... I guess my order still went through? And thanks for the welcome, Sarah A! Yay for delurking!
-
Haha, yeah, I was one of 'em ... I'm kind of hoping that if you were among the first 300 to order period that you'll get a signed copy, but I bet it won't work that way. Oh well, I've managed to console myself by telling myself I can still get MG to sign it in person someday. And hi everyone, new to the bored ... sort of. I've lurked for quite a while but ... finally posting! ;)
