  1. I will, dammit! Not like they'd know who did it. Besides, it's not like I'm completely blowing off my hard fought right to vote. I just don't want any of the candidates to get my vote. Stephen Harper is a robot programmed to do whatever the US tells him to do. Stephane Dion is a wuss. Voting NDP is useless because they are.
  2. If we do, I'm voting Obama. Really. In big bold letters, to get my point across that elections in Canada are a big waste of time (nothing will ever get done and they're screwing up what funding is issued to the arts and culture), I will vote for Barak Obama.
  3. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2008/08/25/...on.html?ref=rss They are not having a good summer.
  4. I've been watching. China is 12 hours ahead of EST, which means the CBC's live coverage starts about two hours before I get home from work at 1am, thus giving me something to watch in the middle of the night. And then, when I finally get up about 10am, it's still on, and the featured event is usually something huge like athelics. This morning I got the equestrian finals/O Canada as soon as I woke up. It was great. ;)
  5. I had originally stolen my dad's copies of both albums, but I began to feel really, really guilty about hording them, especially the White Album because for a period, I had lost the included pictures. ;) It's all good now, though. They're not original copies - as soon as I get my record player, they began re-issuing the entire Beatles' catalogue on vinyl - but I figure because I do live in Sarnia, and I can't put an estimate at the next time I'm going to be at a proper used record store, it would be OK to go with the newer copies for the time being, or until I can find abandoned copies at some thrift store/garage sale. (Why people would get rid of what essentially is the epitome of 20th century music, I do not know, but I've seen it happen...it's how I got my copy of Abbey Road.)
  6. Me too. I'm not a psych major, but I am clinically depressed/bipolar, so my ears are glued, no mater how fucked up the case generally is. When I go to bed every night, I always fall asleep to CBC Newsworld, and because my dreams can be so lucid, half the time what's on the TV feeds into whatever dream - the morning this was first reported, my dream was well graphic, and it's going to take a long time to really get it through my head that it really wasn't a dream. ;)
  7. Something for All of Us - Brendan Canning (founding member of Broken Social Scene) Rock Fantasy - Wet Secret Brothers & Sisters, Are You Ready? - Big Sugar Sgt Pepper's Loney Hearts Club Band - The Beatles (vinyl) The Beatles (AKA White Album)- The Beatles (vinyl)
  8. Was it because Disney cancelled the entire tour that BNL was supposed to be a part of for a few dates? Was BNL even supposed to play your date? Most of the articles I've read about it mostly have come from cities that didn't have BNL on the concert line up to begin with. ;)
  9. Merci beaucoup for joining too! (And for being my friend...;))
  10. So far, so good. The only major outlets that have caught on to it was the National Post (who was so kind to let the country see the mugshot right on the front page) and now Maclean's. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=25773351778 <--there wasn't one, so I started the Facebook page in support of the musician in question. ;)
  11. Cherry cheesecake - a fan of cheesecake, definietly, but I'm not a fan of most cooked fruit, so I could have done without the cherries.
  12. Saw it last night. It was fucking adorable - and gorgeous from a visual stand point. Total geek ass moment: I couldn't help but notice the folks at Pixar took full advantage of the acronym for Buy'N'Large. ;)
  13. Just heard. Canadian musician with bulk of success in the 90's + a history of depression in some form or another + incident involving drugs shortly after separation with spouse...sound familiar? Very, very sad indeed and I'll be keeping track to whatever comes out in the next few days. But in the end I don't care as to why he was arrested to begin with. I just hope he gets the help he needs.
  14. When I first read the thread title, I thought some TV station decided to revive Celebrity Deathmatch with a Canadian twist, and then I thought "How progressive." And then it clicked that CFox is a radio station. I am, indeed, a smart one. ;)
  15. ...who are also playing Bayfest, but I'm avoiding it at all costs. I fucking hate Motley Crue.
  16. Strawberry Fields Forever - Across the Universe soundtrack
  17. I would just like to make a small revision to my previous post: I'm officially removing Bon Jovi from my very long list of '80's bands that suck. They're great live. ;)
  18. I always thought the lyric about bagged drugs steamed from how he mentioned that he flew out on tour with a bag of pills in his entry about how he eventually ended up at the hospital. As for the lyric about Styrofoam coffee cups, I thought it was a detail of his hospital admission. I wouldn't know it could be anything else as I have never been admitted to the hospital for my illness, nor have I really had anyone really close die of cancer (knock on wood).
