  1. I'll miss the comments. They've taught me how to carry a coherent political conversation. I mean, I've always had my opinion, but this is the first time I've been able to express them properly. Just a thought I'm going to throw out: would it be possible to create a forum or even a sticky thread dedicated specifically to commenting on the latest blog entry? I know threads pop up on this main forum about some blog entries (mainly about music/artistic projects/tours he's working on or announced) and I know there's a forum for political debate, but I'm talking about one with thread topics strictly for the latest blog, be it political or otherwise. At the very least, someone tell me I'm not completely crazy in thinking this would be a good idea. ;)
  2. Indiana Jones Trilogy Queen Live at Wembley and... Tiny Toon Adventures, Season 1 (Which now takes it's rightful place in between my Looney Tunes and Animaniacs box sets. Yes, I'm a geek, but I'm having fun so I really don't care. ;))
  3. The Internet is for Porn - Avenue Q (Original Broadway Cast)
  4. When I first read the title, I thought it was reporting someone had started writing a screen adaptation to Restaurant at the End of the Universe...and because the first movie wasn't a complete masterpiece, I thought it was a little odd that they're deciding to do a second movie. Now that I've read the piece, I think I'm just going to take the safe route and sit on the fence until it comes out. Blasphemous, yes, (when someone dies, it's OK to finish up some almost completed projects, but to start something new entirely?) but I'm always willing to give some kind of benefit of the doubt and a chance to prove. This guy better do good. (PS: this is the second time this week the Hitchhiker's Guide has been brought up in some kind of conversation...I think it's time for my annual re-read. ;))
  5. Hey, some people do think they're boring. My mom can be quite vocal about the fact you can't really sing to Zeppelin or Floyd (and you can to the songs played on the lite hits station), and near the end of our relationship, my ex turned his car radio as soon as the last verse of Money ended because it was boring him and the urban station out of Detroit was so much better. (Remind me to never date guys that do that again...it's not so much he didn't like Floyd, it's the fact he changed it as soon as he possibly could after I told him it was the first song I learned on bass.) As for the Oasis/Blur debate, honestly I don't have a preference. I really like them both and usually when I want to listen to Brit-Rock/Pop in any form, they're always side by side on my mix. Each to their own.
  6. Gotta think... Vinyl: George Harrison - Cloud Nine (used) Paul McCartney - Pipes of Peace (used) Paul McCartney - Give My Regards to Broadstreet (used) Paul McCartney & Wings - Back to the Egg (used) Beatles - Past Masters Vol 1 & 2 (new, double album) I think I bought CD's in the past two weeks, I just can't remember what they were...too many solo Beatle albums were in the used pile for me to think about purchasing anything else.
  7. That's what I thought last year when they got GBS for the first time, but because it only brought list of groups I really love to two, I thought it just wouldn't be worth my money - especially since I generally rather spend my money to get from point a to point b in the next European country I'm going to choose by map and dart board. But then they had to go and add Sloan - a band I hold in the same "hero" status as BNL...which means, I'm going to be stuck on a boat for a week with heroes. Not to mention, with the rest of the line up they're taking with them (The Weakerthans, the New Odds, etc), it's almost starting to feel like I'm going on a floating Canadian summer concert festival...only in February and some 2000 miles from Canada. So I'm going to swallow my pride, play tacky tourist* for a week, and actually see what the fuss is all about when it comes to cruises - all in the name of music, and the idea that the traveler* bonus for me is that I'm getting myself into a position to see Mexico and the Caribbean. (*Tourist = someone who brings America in a suitcase and expects to see a McDonald on every corner. Traveler = someone who brings a passport in a backpack and has the ability make tourists cringe in jealousy/disgust when telling the grimy details of their latest "adventure" and is damn proud to do so. ;))
  8. I have some personal news for you all, related directly to BNL...I have decided to participate in one of the greatest acts I could as a music geek. I've booked my spot on this. I was all prepared to give it a pass over for yet another year, but when I heard they got Sloan, there was no way around it, I had to go. So I am. ;) Bonus I'm going to see Mexico.
  9. I want him to tell more stories about his shows with the Who. ;)
  10. Revolver is the greatest album EVER. Period. You know your band is good when your third best songwriter wrote Taxman. (You also know your band is good when there are serious arguments to warrent an upgrade to BEST songwriter.)
  11. Better than the stick in featured in the interviews posted to YouTube.
  12. This week, I'm in a show at the theatre in here in Sarnia, my first after my panic attacks following my own diagnosis with bipolar. Took me three years to get to this point. When Matt played here last year around this time, it was my first time entering the theatre period in at least two years. I bought the cap at the merchandice booth - and this video is why I'm going to wear it during the show. ;)
  13. I read this and thought you said "his age and his health make him questionable, and obviously not a two TIMER." And then I was going to post "I certainly hope not. That'd be pretty gross." ;) But then I re-read it and all was well again in the warped mind of a one Miss Emily over here.

  15. Some 80's ballad now more than suitable for AC radio.
  16. Don't worry, I'll definitely get my ass in gear for this election and get my questions out there. It's just after four years and seeing very little coverage or acknowledgement of the issues that matter the most to me around election time has made the process weary. Especially coming up to this election. The focus is going to be on the environment, why Dion's carbon tax is a bad idea, and why the other leaders are the real bad guy. Forget the fact that funding towards art and cultural programs meant to promote Canadian talent is basically no more. I can't promice any kind of change towards my vote, but I will try.
  17. People thought I wouldn't last three weeks at my call center. I've been there three years now. Not the worst job I ever had, but it ranks up there. No, the worst job I had was working at this store in our mall that sells pictures and gift ware. The moron (who was across between the Penguin, Jabba the Hutt and Frodo and initially questioned my height in relation to my possible job performance) which meant no breaks, but that was OK because our lunches were paid. What took the cake at the place as being the absolute worst business ever run in the history of capitalism was how the owner took care of two robberies that occurred in the store. The first happened while I was working. A customer came in and bought something with a $100 bill and eventually got the $100 bill back in his hand. The same scam was repeated in six other stores in the mall, all the other stores took the $100 loss and claimed it as insurance. I had to pay back mine because the security cameras caught me unknowingly giving the guy back the bill. The second was an actual break and enter where someone swiped the float in the middle of the night. I don't know whether or not if she quit after or if she was fired, but I'm pretty sure the girl who worked the night before was going to be forced to pay the lost $250 float back. She should have deposited the money the day before...even though was really fucking busy the night before, and it was day one of a freak snowstorm at the end of April. (Of course, the rather sucky footnote to the break and enter: I was the one who had to deal with the whole mess because I had to work the morning after...which just happened to be a Sunday...which also just happened to be day two of that freak snowstorm...and my birthday.) OK, I'm done bitching for the time being. ;)
  18. Money - Pink Floyd (The first song I learned on bass. ;))
  19. Why thank you. I've been reading your comments. ;) There's more to come at some point, probably when I get a chance this weekend.
  20. Some have suggested we grab Tyler, Kevin and Jim and hide them in a bunker until it can be determined that whatever curse they're under is resolved.
