  1. starting about an hour ago and probly continuing untill the release on in a coma i will be listening to the new big city life and the cfox mp3's. ohhh god i am just so damn happy right now
  2. tripoli has long been an argument between my friend dave and i but maybe he will finally now understand why ive been so in love with this song all this time. the acoustic version is incredibly better than the original so if he doesnt like it now i may just have to stop talking to him
  3. i just wanna say thanks a lot to everyone who shared their copies of bcl here tonight. i had previously only had the foggy live version so im so happy to get my hands on these other ones. thanks again!
  4. u2 has to be one of the bands that i hate the most with the exception of those bands that i think should be forcibly stopped (i.e. simple plan, good charlotte). i truly believe that the only reason that people buy into u2's music as much as they do is because of the attention and 'credibility' they get from Bono's political exploits. the thing that gets me even worse is that i really have a hard time buyin what bono's selling. i'm sure there has to be a lot of you out there that just don't believe that he is truly genuine in what he does, but rather does a lot for his personal benefit and image?
  5. Well i got a 6gig ipod mini full of stuff, which i carry all the time so it really varies but right now, aside from Matt Good, which always finds its way in, the most common is... Death Cab For Cutie - Plans, Transatlanticism, Photo Album Elliott Smith - From a Basement on a Hill Bright Eyes - various from Digital, Lifted and Fevers
  6. Bright Eyes - First Day of My Life
  7. thanks for that link anton, i just don't know what i would have done without more of these awesome bunny wallpapers
  8. thanks, just wanted to make sure i wasn't crazy. that sucks too cause i guess we won't get our hands on em for a while now...and i love that damn rabbit too!
  9. Death Cab for Cutie - I Will Follow You into the Dark as cheesy and 'emo' as this may be, i just can't get enough of this song since their new cd came out
  10. am i the only person here that these links just don't work for? i can get the first two, the ones that are actually posted on inacoma already, but for the other five i get absolutely nothing but the damned "the page cannot be found" site that i have come to hate soooo much over the years.
  11. oh sorry bout the misunderstanding, i didn't know what part you were referring to is all. as for the second part i don't mean to say that he was actually having problems writing something but merely that the way he tosses the paper in for the purpose of the video is like someone tossing in screw ups and bad starts. its funny how simple things turn out sometimes, eh? the only reason i mentioned this in the first place was to clarify for middle class gangster who wasnt sure what the hands were all about
  12. no i really mean it, everytime the hand comes into the picture a new piece of paper hits the fireplace if you look closely enough. its so fast though that the ones that land in the back are virtually invisible most of the time, but you can see the others clearly if they hit the front or side. they're just crumpled pieces of paper that burn up in the fire
  13. i have already downloaded the free version but i'm still constantly looking at itunes to see if it comes up to download. proof positive that some people will still pay for things they can have for free and quite franlky not everyone has access to itunes and therefore it wouldnt be fair to cut them off from having it.
  14. the hand that keeps flying in front is actually throwing a crumpled up piece of paper into the fire everytime it passes through, as if he was in the middle of writing something and kept having problems and tossing them out.
  15. Here I go Pop minds go ready to lose control Cruising slow Live your life outside the life you know Oh be joyful! Cause that shit spreads Oh be joyful! Cause that shit spreads Here we go Pop your skull off the air, lose control Get up and go Five fingers wanted the mix you know Oh be joyful! Cause that shit spreads Oh be joyful! Cause that shit spreads Just like that Oh be joyful! Cause that shit spreads Oh be joyful! Cause that shit spreads this seems to be the lyrics, at least as I hear em. if you hear em differently, i'd be glad to hear your take.
  16. Main List Brave New World Catch-22 1984 Slaughterhouse-Five Animal Farm The Great Gatsby A Clockwork Orange Readers List LOTR Dune The Stand Watership Down To Kill A Mockingbird One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest Not a very extensive list but I already bought a lot of the others which now reside in my extensive I will get to reading them pile, such as Sallinger, Hemingway, Rushdie, etc. (I get very lazy for reading in the University season so the pile really adds up around this time)
  17. Tough call but I would have to say Giant just cause it is forever known for having that great "KICKASS, that's the way we spell success" intro, but Man of Action is right there behind nipping at its heels. But Plede of Allegiance and Put Out Your Lights are just as good if not better for setting the tone for their respective cd's, even if they are arguably not as memorable as stand alone songs.
  18. I'd have to say that you should take a serious look at North American For Life of of WLR&RR. Not only is that song dripping with political context but it is also quite straightforward and simple to understand.
  19. While I accept that your criticism is correct and I did say I was open to it, I also would like to draw attention to the fact that I have since changed my stance on that post. The only reason I said incest may be the problem originally was that I vaguely recalled the situation but not why it was a problem and the only thing on the surface of my original recollection that seemed to be a problem was that of incest. With that being said however, through my further research to clarify the situation there was more than once mention of the incestuous relationship between Caligula and Drusilla as at least somewhat wrong. There were direct mentions of this and other times indirect mentions such as ones that claimed that Caligula attempted to hide his incestuous feelings and instead pass them off as merely a strong sibling bond. This would show that even in the years 37-41 during his reign there was already a notion that incest was wrong or at least somewhat frowned upon.
  20. It seemed to go unnoticed but the Bored had a little achievement of it's own on Tuesday the 11th. On that day a new record was set for the most people on in one day with 139. Im just so proud of you Bored. Kids just keep growing up so fast these days ;) ...excuse me I think I got something in my eye.
  21. Hell, even Matt Good endorsed this band. I once recall reading a list of the bands/musicians he thought were good and after naming his true favorites, he said as an extra that The Constantines and The Weakerthans (who just happen to be one of my favorite bands outside of Matt) were "cool". That approval alone should encourage all the eager Matt Good fans to give em a listen or two.
  22. I have uncovered a little more to add some clarity to the subject of Jove and Drusilla. Drusilla was indeed a sister of Caligula and it appears she was involved with him in an incestuous relationship. At the least Caligula was oddly fond and passionate of this particular (unlike his other two sisters who he strongly punished). She would eventually die and he was devastated and had her deified (made a God). As for why the name Jove was used rather than Caligula there is a quite simple explanation that sums up why both The Rat Who Would be King and I were both on to something. In his madness and egomaniacal manner Caligula professed that he should be refered to as Zeus, the God of Gods in Roman mythology. This ties in perfectly because both Jupiter and Jove were both other names for Zeus or alias' if you will. Therefore calling him Jove is the same thing as calling him Zeus. As for the forsaking Rome part what I figure it means is that Caligula was a terrible tyrant after the early stages of his reign. As The Rat Who Would be king said she was likely the only one that had enough influence of Caligula to have him stop his terrible ways because he loved her so deeply. Another very plausible explanation is merely that since he was such a tyrant, Drusilla was essentially endorsing and encouraging his evil ways by accepting him as a lover and therefore forsaking her people. She was the only one of the three sisters that he did not exile, possibly because she was the only one to weak-willed to stand up for herself, or weak-minded to see how awful he really was. That's it cased closed for me, I feel like I just did a research essay for an ancient civilizations class or something. Thanks to the Rat Who Would Be King for his help and I also hope that all this riduculously lame effort was not completely wasted and it ends up helping danimal with his English class in some way.
  23. That sounds a lot more correct than what my vague memory provides me with. There are a lot of similarities in our two versions as well. I said a powerful God and yours has Calligula the powerful ruler, I said Druscilla was his half-sister and lover while you say pure sister and lover and we both say that the outcome would have been bad for the Roman people. We are pretty much saying the same thing except your facts just seem to be more plausible and in better order. The only question left is why the name Jove was used if it was indeed Calligula? Hmmmmm, this is a real head scratcher and me being the person I am I think I'm gonna spend a while trying to find out (I hate loose ended questions without answers. blast all the hours wasted on my stubborn persistence!!)
