  1. I think the incident in Barrie during AUTOMATIC may have had something to do with the song not being played, however, as I posted the actual set list for Oshawa, the 3rd song in the encore was listed as ?? AUDIBLE ?? which means Matt would've called for it if he wanted it. Safe to say, it depends on when the show started and when it actually ended. It also depends on the crowd as well. If any artist isn't feeling it (or feels worn down) they'll often shorten their encores - I've seen this many a time. They'll also bail if their against the curfew for the venue as they don't want to pay a penalty.
  2. 'Tis a shame. He really does care about his fans but the shenanigans that have taken place in Ontario over the past week or so would put a serious damper on anyone's mood. Last night, it'd have to be hard to see a pretty full field of people get soaked and then be unable to play for them while you're around backstage. I applaud Matt for coming out after it was canceled. He didn't have to; he could've said, "Fuck it... we're outta here." Like I said in a post in a response to one of his recent "white trash Ontarian" blogs, it's sad to see how far-gone humanity is there days; and how a small handful of idiots can ruin it for everyone else. How is it fun for anybody to receive the flak he's received over the past week or so? He's always been about honesty - especially with his fans - and I commend him for this. The fact that he stands outside for 60-90 for pictures and autographs is a rarity in this day and age; but, again, this isn't for - or about - him, he does it for his fans. The man makes his cash touring; album sales are down because people just download albums from the internet. I will admit that I had downloaded Hospital Music prior to the show but did buy a copy (an autographed one at that). I like to support the smaller artists and they need the support from the fans. Just because he does sign crap and take pictures with fans doesn't mean that he has to; it's not a right - it's a privilege. Some idiots abused it; and have made Matt feel extremely uncomfortable (perhaps even exposed) and now he has the right to not be so open with his fans. I mean, look at this idiot that sent the e-mail on Facebook yesterday to him. Gimme a fucking break - that isn't fair or right. People just don't get it anymore. It's not about him not wanting play - it was that he couldn't because it was unsafe for EVERYONE; especially those in and around the stage. All somebody needed was for the lightning to strike in front of the stage where the crowd was to see somebody killed. It's really unfortunate but I applaud Matt in doing the right thing. Matt (if you read this) - if you want to go into hiding for a while, I think the true fans will understand. Really, it's about what's best for YOU and it has _nothing_ to do with us. Those that choose not to understand or refuse to are not fans and are not the type of people you want listening to your music - or coming to your shows for that matter - in the first place. All the best!
  3. I was there, too. I had the fortune of seeing him last weekend in Oshawa. Despite some members of the white trash crowd, I thought it'd be great to see him again. I took tonight off work because I figured the storm would hit long before it did. Nosireebob! 9:28, the skies opened up with a light show that preceded it for about 15 minutes. Managed to make it to the VIP tent for cover; but learned that several guitars were damaged by water from a leak above the stage. At 10:15, organizers pulled the plug. MG came out about 5 minutes later to appologize personally and explained that he couldn't do it because he'd already once been electrocuted and that he didn't want to put the band, the crew or the fans in jeopardy. People around where I was standing didn't understand the severity of a thunderstorm. With the voltage required for the sound system and lights, the risk is hundreds of times greater of being hit by a strike because lightning (electricity) is attracted to electricity. As MG mentioned in his updated blog, being on a metal stage runs a higher risk of being struck. Not only this, and it isn't mentioned, there's a greater chance of it also (or instead) hitting the crowd and possibly injuring or killing fans. It's b.s. that organizers refused refunds - I asked based on mu taking the night off to attend as well as not being able to come back because of work saying I should email the organizers because they were unable to give me a wristband I could give to someone else. But if it matters, all money from every wristband goes to charity. So, do I want to get a refund in that case? No. I don't. Got to see The Spades again and got their CD (which they asked to sign for me despite my feelings on autographed CDs) and I also picked up a signed copy of Hospital Music. All in all, a bad way to end the night - but there was no SAFE alternative. Too bad, too, because it would've been a killer show.
  4. Hey Everyone: I know this probably isn't the best place to do this but this is one CD that has eluded me for an enternity. It's the: NEAR FANTASTICA [RADIO EDIT] I've missed this a couple of times on eBay and only have the version released on Matt's old website years back. I don't know if anybody here owns the CD or has a rip of that track at 256/320 in MP3 or in FLAC but any leads would be appreciated as it's something that's been bothering me for a long time. Thanks in advance, Adrian.
  5. For the more popular old tracks: Automatic Time Bomb Newer: Fantastica Weapon Alert Status Red
  6. This is often venue dependent - as well as artist dependent - regardless of what the ticket says. If the artist has a NO PHOTOGRAPHY clause in their rider, the venue must do its best to ensure no cameras are allowed in. There's a big problem now that cell phones have built-in cameras, so what most venues are doing is allowing people to bring in any DIGITAL POCKET CAMERA (i.e., non-DSLR or Prosumer-type with a permanent fixed lens on the outside of the body). At the Oshawa show, which was like Fort Knox going in, somebody asked if his Canon S1000 was allowed in and they said no problem as long as it wasn't professional. I'm going to the Mississauga Waterfront Festival tonight, and even though the rules at the gate state "No Video Camera's [sic]," I was thinking of trying to bring my SLR. However, with the T-showers being called for tonight, I'm just bringing my Fuji Pocket Camera with me instead. Not gonna be worth trying more than that.
  7. Well, here's the deal with this one. We all know that it was recorded for possible release via iTunes or the official site, so my guess is as follows: YES - it probably has been recorded. I think this can be said of most shows by ANY artist at any time. It's almost a given nowadays. I'm thinking the taper has withheld the recording because it will be banned if an official release occurs (as per the policies of those websites). MAYBE - it will surface if the official release fails to materialize. NO - it isn't in any of the "usual" places as of yet. In fact ZERO shows have surfaced to date of the "band" shows. So there's my $0.03 with inflation.
  8. I think a lot of people are leary of the term "bootleg" which deems an unauthorized recording being sold for a profit. Most people prefer "recordings" or "tape" of the show. I'm actually surprised as well. Checking out DaD and TTD nets nothing from the "Matthew Good and His Band" tour over the last few weeks. I can say, for one, that Oshawa was recorded. There was somebody near me taping the show. Whether it surfaces or not is another question. I might expect that the Mississauga Waterfront Festival show may be taped as well. They have a NO VIDEO policy when you check rules at the gates on the website, however, nothing mentions any type of camera (even DSLR which I might attempt to bring) or audio recording device. It's only $15 as well which is pretty damn cheap and he's slated from 9:30pm to 11:00pm. Only thing I don't like is the t-storms that are being called for on Friday (they weren't yesterday afternoon) and Saturday which might be a bit of a downer. Taping isn't very hard and isn't very expensive these days nor is it hard to get gear in. For around $350 you can buy a solid-state recorder which is slightly bigger than the size of a deck of playing cards. For $40 more, you can buy an 8GB SDHC card which allows you to record almost 8 hours on that card at the highest sample rate. Mics and a battery box can be had from a guy in Canada for around $130 and they're decent for "starting out". The battery box is sightly bigger than a 9V battery and the mics just clip on. It's not the the "old days" where you had a full-size mic, two blank tapes, extra batteries and a recorder that was twice the size and weighed five-times as much. ;) I'm just not sure what Matt's taping policy is; I'm sure he's fine as long as it's not being sold and being enjoyed by the fans. Anybody want to correct me?
  9. Le Skratch Oshawa, ON Saturday, June 7, 2008 Only two songs for the encore; no audible called for.
  10. Okay, Le Skratch was quite an interesting venue. They wouldn't allow my wife to bring BLISTER SEALED back medication in as they have a ZERO PILL policy. Nor could she bring in a BIC ROLLER pen! I mean, she might stab somebody with it. I was in the bathroom when she saw somebody literally dragged out in a choke-hold by security and the Durham Cops. As far as the set list, it was pretty standard. I've posted it in the MEGA THREAD (somebody actually beat me to it but I was able to get a picture of it regardless). That said, it was a a very energetic show and he really seemed back into it unlike the last couple of times we'd seen him in 2004; however, we both found the bass-player, although technically good, looked liked he was bored and would've rather have been somewhere else. Managed to get a handful of pictures (most of them didn't turn out as the lighting at the club was pretty horrendous). Audio problems galore for the opening act. Matt's audio was better but still not fantastic.
  11. Hey, what's wrong with The 'shwa (besides a lot of things). ;) What's sketchy about the venue, really, when you get down to it? Night clubs are night clubs when it comes down to it? I remember going to the Dard, in Wasaga Beach, many a time to see The Tea PArty, despite a crap website. Matt's also playing at The Roxx in Barrie in a couple of days; I've been there before - again, pretty much middle of the road. I think it's great that he's playing all these shows because the smaller clubs can often lead to a better gig. As I pretty much live in Pickering, it made last night's Hamilton show an impossibility because of a killer drive - especially on a Friday night. I also wanted to go to the Toronto Show @ Massey Hall but was working that night and couldn't book it off. Either way, I'm sure the show will be good. I'll post my feedback on the show tomorrow at some point.
