Thanks Guys. I was able to figure out everybody but Blake. With any luck, I'll try and get links up to the St. Catharines show in the coming days.

So, last time I saw Matt live (I know, I know) was in 2011 and hadn't bothered going to a show for the past few years because that Mississauga show was _THAT_ disappointing to us. After the SCENE Music Fest set (even though it was super short), we were impressed. Just wondering who's playing with him currently -- just trying to make some notes up on the show for myself. Obviously, it's Matt and Milos but who else? Thanks...
-
I'll consider flying to Vancouver if he plays NF. Although I love NP, NF is still my favourite MG non-radio-friendly track.
-
Yup, we were there. Short set but MUCH better than the Mississauga show we saw at the Living Arts Centre in 2011 (which was a HUGE disappointment).

This Friday's Nxne Show To Be Broadcast On Siruis Xm
adrianf74 replied to adrianf74's topic in Matthew Good
Indeed, the 7pm start time is EASTERN. Opening bands throught out the evening. I'll be there as well; gonna try and get some pics if I can get close enough. -
Don't know if anybody here has access to Sirius XM but apparently this Friday's free NXNE Toronto show is being broadcast on Siriux XM Channel 151 (IIRC). I know Sirius has presented artists before on the Friday and broadcast their shows and have heard this during a radio promo on a local rock station. Does anybody here have Sirius XM and can they record it to a digital recorder/computer/etc.? I'm torn between going to this [only Toronto date this year] and Big Sugar in Burlignton [only Ontario date this year from what I've been told]. PM me if you can do this. Thanks, Adrian

How Long Was The Lights Of Endangered Species Concert?
adrianf74 replied to Doormat's topic in Matthew Good
About 95-100 minutes on average from what it seems. May not look like a long set-list but between the in-between song banter (some of which is quite good) and the longer songs, it's a decent length set list. -
I think sour29 is just saying that the lousy mix/sound at the venue equals a less than stellar recording; this is the same experience I had in Mississauga. Parts weren't loud enough (overall) and the mix left a lot to be desired. People who tape shows generally have what they consider to be "a good" recording and go from there.

Sad. It's funny, though, because we had Matt say he can't hear sh*t through his in ear monitor's at the LAC show meanwhile people kept trying to yell things at him after the fact. I'll see what I can do. I'll likely put links to the Mississauga LAC show up at some point (for a limited period). Certain people are just Class-A A-holes. End of story. Thanks for the link. I'm shooting you a PM.

Sorry to hear this... be very cautious about shows from G101 as many of them are absolute crap. Drop me a PM if you want some other good torrent sites that sometimes have MG shows.

Whereabouts were you located? And what gear did you use. I was, as mentioned, about 10 rows back just off centre. I haven't said this just yet but did record the Mississauga show (using DPA 4061 mics with a preamp and a Sony M10 recorder for those who care) but the sound of the room was very echoey and I'm not happy with the recording [or the show for that matter -- see my review above]. I still have to get around to tracking the show. I might put it out there for you guys as well. Also have my own masters for Massey Hall 2009 (second night), Oshawa 2008, Orangeville 2004, Mod Club (2nd night) 2004, and Hamilton Place 2003. All of the early-to-mid 2000's shows are MiniDisc recordings with external mics (cardioids) and post 2008 shows vary with an Edirol digital recorder. The 2003, 2004, and 2005 shows have been highly circulated. 2008 and 2009 have only gone to one other person. Just thought I'd put this out there for you guys.... Yeah, I did the Mississauga show even though the ushers were all over the place (see above). I'll see if I can put it out there in the coming days whenever I get around to tracking it. As for drunk people and morons in general, good luck with your efforts. Nobody seems to give a flying f*ck anymore whether they've paid $10 for a ticket or $300 for a ticket. People will carry on full-on convos while using the concert as their "background music." It's really sad and it doesn't matter if it's a show with an orchestra, a pop show, a rock show, a metal show, a MG show, some people have just become so ignorant. I had the same problem with Rabbits in Mississauga and Non-Populus fared little better.

Of the known set lists that have been published, here's what has been played so far of the 10-ten shows posted. (10 plays) Apparations, Weapon, Shallow's Low, Load Me Up, Born Losers, What If I Can't See.., Non Populus, Zero Ochestra, Set Me On Fire (8 plays) While We Were Hunting... (6 plays) Future Is X-Rated, Giant, Lights of Endangered... (4 plays) Hello Time Bomb, Hornets, The Boy Who Could... (3 plays) How It Goes, Last Parade (2 plays) Great Whales..., A Silent Army..., Alert Status Red (1 play) It's Been A While... As I said above, I know there's a fine line for any artist trying to satisfy the die-hards vs. casual/new fans but it would've been nice for Matt to play SOMETHING that we're dying to hear even if it meant playing that same song EVERY night. I was rather ho-hum about the whole setlist I saw on Tuesday night (especially with the lack of Hospital Music and Vancouver tracks) and that feeling hasn't improved at all since.

@likeadeadstar: Sorry to hear of your health issues; sitting in any seat would probably give you issues. I often prefer standing now when I can just because I can, albeit very limited, still move around for the show. I got a thank you email from LAC after the show asking for feedback - I think those two issues are going to be brought up in my reply. I'd love to hear SWW again -- it's been almost a decade (2003 tour in Hamilton for me) so he really should bring it back. I heard Automatic last in 2008, I think, in Oshawa. He commented that that was one of his favourite shows from that tour and it was probably my second favourite after the second night at the Mod Club during his three night stint. I know what you're saying about the Catch-22 but for someone like MG, many of his fans are diehards and would love to hear "SONG X" which hasn't been played in forever. I'm sure he (or one of his people) read the comments on the boards so I don't see why it would be difficult to just include a single bone (even if he played it every night of the tour)? I also know when an artist moves on they like to concentrate on their more recent work but to see the non-existence of "Hospital Music" tracks or the slim pickings from "Vancouver"... well, ugh. Oh... don't get me started on TA. I could get into that one, too, but I'll refrain. :)
-
Nothing's surfaced (so far) for this tour. Doesn't mean that nobody's rolled on the shows; it just means they're not sharing them directly (or are only sharing the shows with other tapers).

Nice summary of the show. I didn't find the seats that brutal - the seats at Massey Hall are worse than those. Maybe I was on crack when I read your original post. :) Yeah, the lights were blinding. I actually found the new guitarist decent (energy-wise) as he was bringing his own stuff to the table instead of just "playing the record." The keyboardist was awesome (as you say) as well and looked to be having a good time. "Apparations" is dead boring to me and even "Weapon" has lost it's allure. No offence to Ian (or fans of said drummer) but I felt that he phoned in his part -- especially on the latter. There just wasn't any real hammering to it. Even though Matt was in a chatty mood, my better half also noted that his performance seemed lackadaisical for lack of a better word. He was quite, "Meh... whatever." She was excited as well since she (and I) were caught in the downpour of the Mississauga Waterfront Festival back in '08 and she hadn't had a chance to see him live until yesterday. I only wish she could have seent the 2008 Oshawa show as that, by far, was the best show I'd seen next to the Spring 2003 Hamilton show. 1 hour, 38 minutes and some seconds by my count -- but how I'm counting this is another story. :) Your suggestions would be great. Hell, I'd love to hear "Black Helicopter" again. If I can't have "Near Fantastica," I'll settle for "Blue Skies" but then again, "Non Populus" does a good job of that as well. As far as the personnel changes, I think he picked some good players. BRIGHT to the point of a bloody headache when I left (and still have it this morning). My only other complaint would be directed at the usherettes and their insistance of people NOT taking pictures during the show. I saw one person with a smartphone get shut down. I also had a flashlight pointed at me about two or three times (I was using a Canon G11 with NO FLASH). I managed to get a bunch of good pics which I'll ty and get up in the coming days. I wish these people would understand that even though it's a theatre, it's a ROCK CONCERT and photography is gonna happen. These people were worse than the ones at Casino Rama for crying out loud. Enjoy the rest of the shows, guys. I think I'll be sitting the rest of this tour out especially as the set list isn't changing much from night to night.

Sorry to hear you won't be able to make it as you had seats that were two or three rows behind me. And nevermind the wooks in Hamilton, I wanna see someone yell out "Rico" tonight. I'd PAY to see that. :D

Well, this was one of the reasons I picked a slightly smaller out of town venue versus the Toronto dates. I'm not paying $70 for Matt Good or pretty much anybody unless it's a special show. I made an exception for another artist, who's coming in from the UK, and doing his first two albums. That's in Oakville the night after Mississauga and at $74 I had to think three or four times (I have a sixth row, dead centre seat for that so that also helps). Again, the reason I went with the Mississauga date -- lower ticket price and lower s/c. Hmm... PM me if you want because i'm in row F for the show (10th row, pretty much dead centre). I'd like to go to the QE shows but as I'm buying tickets for two, it adds up fast. That, and the extra $15-20 per ticket nevermind parking put me off the Toronto dates. Indeed. I always try to do that where I can. Massey Hall shows in Toronto are usually cheaper through their website over going to TicketRapist. Often I find better seats show up there as well. I agree with this as well. The sad reality is that costs of touring have gone up (look at gas prices as well as the cut that promoters and venues want). For about 90% of the larger shows I go to, I wait for the day of (or a day or two before), and try to scalp scalpers on CL, KJ or fleaBay. I've done quite well in the past -- the last time MG played Toronto (Massey Hall, December '09), I managed to pick up a 5th row seat for about $30-35 (vs. the $50-$60 ticket price). For some other higher profile shows, I've usually managed to pay around 40-45% of the list price hours before the show began and ended up with tickets in the first 10 or so rows. I take a huge risk on not going but if I'm not willing to pay a certain price, I just don't go or I roll the dice. As far as the $40 GA tickets.... well, I remember seeing him on the Vancouver tour when he hit Oshawa back in '08 and those were $27.50 + $2 s/c via TicketBreak. By comparison, Massey Hall (after service charges) was around $50. GA at $50 or greater is just disgusting.

Matt, himself, has been quoted that we can expect some more obscure stuff (or stuff that hasn't been played in many years) [i believe "Near Fantastica" was mentioned]. They're gonna have to "learn" the new record as well as the old stuff so let's see what happens. I wanted to head up to Bala for the first date but it just didn't work with my work schedule (running out of vacation days fast). Since I know many people will be going to the Toronto and Hamilton dates (and those will get taped), I've decided to try my luck on the Mississauga show. At first, they had "Orchestra Pit" listed so the only tix showing up were in the dess circle (first balcony). After ten minutes of waiting, it was changed and managed to pull up tickets pretty much dead centre in the first ten rows. The other good thing was that the tickets (per pair) ran me about $30 less than Toronto or Hamilton would have.

Umm... the name of the site here would be a good start. *facepalm* NEAR FANTASTICA... anyone? Sheesh... As far as EPIC, I'd pick that or Black Helicopter or Badlands...

Just saw the Hamilton, ON date listed on TicketBastard for Saturday, October 22nd, 2011 at Hamilton Place Theatre. Tickets (for seats anybody'd wanna sit in) are $67.75 including "service charges." Presale on July 7th. Public sale on July 8th. I'm wondering if Toronto will be the night before or after this one.

+1 -- the 02-05 lineup was fantastic. I had the luck of seeing him in Hamilton, Toronto and Orangeville at differing points during those years and loved seeing/hearing "NF" played (it's probably STILL my favourite Matt Good song to date). I think this change _COULD_ be a good thing as I found the performances technically great on "Hospital Music" (Oshawa) and "Vancouver" (Massey Hall) but I somehow still felt a little cheated by comparison. Indeed, with the direction taken on this new record, I'm wondering if we might hear some of those older gems like "Load Me Up/X-Wing" , "Giant/White Walls" and "NF" again... This'll be interesting to say the least. Well, there we have it then - I, along with many others here, are glad to hear that it's a possiblity that he'll play it again. Fine, the sequence "has been lost" but a new one can always be created or sampled from the master tapes of the album. And as technology has grown in leaps and bounds since he last played it, there are many different ways he could pull this one off. ;)

I'll add my five cents here... As far as I'm concerned, if I have bought a record, there should be at the very least an MP3 version (or preferably lossless FLAC version) made available at no extra charge. I know the vinyl release costs more to make than the CD but to offer a voucher allowing fans to download some electronic form is not only fair but really costs nothing extra. My opinion is that as long as you own the record, you should be entitled to a digital version -- and, as it was already mentioned, just don't share it with others who haven't bought it.

Looking for the "Near Fantastica" radio promo CD which has the "short" version. Anybody got one? Thanks.

Full Band Setlist Megathread (merged)
adrianf74 replied to Monochrome Rainbow's topic in Matthew Good
It's not really up to him as to how long of a show he gets to perform per se, however, it has more to do with the contract that was signed for the particular performance. A club show is generally 80 or so minutes on average; always has been as long as I can remember (back to WLRRR). In Oshawa, the set list was performed as written except for the third encore track listed as "AUDIBLE". I'm guessing, as he mentioned on his blog a week or so ago, that he ran out of time. In club shows, more often than not, the venue pushes his start time back because they want people to buy booze. That's one of the reasons I hate club shows; however, at the same time, I got to stand six feet from the stage (and about 12-15 feet from Matt) and I can't do that at a concert hall show with reserved seating. Likewise, the concert hall shows - like Toronto and Vancouver - generally have a higher ticket price attached to them so I'd guess that has something to do with it. Massey Hall here in Toronto was well over $50 after TicketRapist fees. The club show in Oshawa was around $32 with fees. He also mentioned that the crowds in Oshawa, Peterborough and Sarnia were very intense. The Oshawa shows was quite killer and he put on, in my mind, the BEST performance I'd seen to date. Even then, with that said, he didn't play the last encore because his set end time was 12:30 (probably stated on the contract). All of these shows are different... that's the beauty. -

I would've done Mississauga, however, we all know how that show went. Like I mentioned, somebody did tape Oshawa - I saw him standing about two or three people back from the stage on the right side (not far from where I was). So the question remains if that surfaces or not.
