Okay, let me put this thread too bed very simply... Was MGB KICK ASS???? HELL YES!!! The Old Guy can certainly attest to that. They were visceral, and dynamic...riffs, harmonies, rhythm, lyrics...they had it all. It's why the first time I saw them on MuchMusic, I couldn't wait to see them again. It's an awesome place to visit, and if we're lucky, maybe Matt, Dave, Ian, Geoff, and Rich, can come together an sift through, and remaster some live stuff from their time together, and give us a live set to enjoy. But, what they were then, they can never be again. Even more than that, would it really be the same? So enjoy what they gave us, and hope that maybe they'll give us a taste of it in the form of a live release, and let it go at that. MG solo, is the awesomeness. His evolution as an artist, writer, and performer at this point, is lightyears away from the MGB days. You can feel it in every song. "A Single Explosion" may be one of the most incredible pieces of music ever written. Would that have happened in the warzone that MGB became towards the end? With all of the upheaval in Matt's life at that point, and beyond, would he have even survived a continued MGB? I'm not happy they broke up, but I appreciate the end results. We all should.
