If one is to talk about brutalizing entire populations, one may definitely wanna take a peek at Iraq. Or perhaps China's taking of Tibet. yes, we don't try to turn a blind eye to China or Iraq or Iran or etc etc etc, so why should Russia be any different? Sure you can talk about how Chechnya's terrorist are targeting women and children (we all remember when they stormed the school and the opera) but that's what terrorist do. Why can't Putin take the higher ground?

i think it is the fact that we see a reporters mysteriously dieing after they talk badly about Putin.

i agree, but hey, lets turn it into a Vietnam War thread! yeah, it is pretty clear that the US lost the war in Vietnam, but they learned a lot from it, for example, how to control the information about the war (keep in mind erik, i didnt say it was a good thing or a bad thing, i just said they learned how to use media for their advantage). They also learned that you should have guns on fighter jets. And finally, don't judge an enemy just from the fact that they kicked the French Armies ass. -

CBC News: Should It Even Exist?
garsk replied to Moonlight_Graham's topic in Politics and Debate: WRONG!
Bingo my friend. I don't buy any of this "media has a liberal bias" stuff because the media is a massive corporation which has an inherent conservative bias. Not in terms of political parties but in terms of ideologies. Remember these guys are a business, and who they are owned by dictate their content. If General Electric owns NBC, do you figure you will hear ANY bad content concerning GE? Hells no, and their one of the most evil multinationals. Again, the media simply ignore and omit information all the time, in fact the myth of the "liberal news reporter" (whether they are personal liberal or not doesn't really matter), really is used to create a mental image that the media is somehow fair and balanced. The media are owned by a handful of major corporations, its a horrifically monopolized industry that does not offer a real spectrum of information. You need the internets to get the real independent news from scholars and independent journalists. Please, i beg you, all of you, read Manufacturing Consent by Noam Chomsky, and it will really brighten your understanding of one of the most dangerous and powerful industries in our lives. I have only had 3 hours of sleep so i don -

there is always going to be a bias with news no matter which channel you watch, but i watch the CBC evening news because i find it has better national coverage then CTV or Global. -

Bands With Staying Power?

i guess it depends on how well the band in question does on a make or break album. it worked for green day, it worked for red hot chili peppers.
